There was a weird cultural moment in the 90s/2000s where this was like 25% of comedy.
robot chicken also did a cringe white supremacist take on china recently
I recently got washed some Robot Chicken into my Youtube Recommendation and it honestly feels like the whole Elsa-spiderman-diaper-five-finger-nursery-rhyme bullshit precursor.
It's literally the same concept, what if popular characters but smashed together in different context, except Robot Chicken chose 2000s edgy-violence and Elsagate chose nursery rhymes corrupted by whatever some fucked up AI spews out
I'm with you as far as watching the content goes but at the same time, Robot Chicken took effort Someone wrote that, someone fucking clay-animated it, someone edited it for TV, some guy negotiated a fucking broadcast deal with MTV for it.
Like the content is less disturbing but the whole process behind it is far more fucked than some vietnamese people animating fucked up AI generated content to trick the YT algorithm into giving them boatloads of ad money.
The synthesis is of course some other schmucks from the anglosphere jumping on the trend and producing live action meaningless disturbing drivel in costume where you have like all the parts disturbing as far as content goes and basically all the parts disturbing as far as production goes
Back when I was in high school I was quite the meme master. I had all your base on lockdown along with Mr. T, Neil Cicierega flash animations, Jib Jab, South Park shit, hell I even had some stuff which I think was from Japan's 2channel. So by the time meme culture really took off with like Portal and the cake is a lie jokes I was past that shit.
"Cake is a lie" was such a trash meme and like all trash memes it was everywhere
Thank god memes today have like a three day lifespan
Had a friend of a friend who was still into Portal memes in like 2014, it was bad.
By the time I actually played Portal a couple years after it came out, that moment got completely ruined from all the memesters regurgitating it beforehand.
bits getting over used is definitely as old as humanity, maybe even older
the first bit people overused has to be jumping out and startling each other
Is it though? I feel like in the olden times people thought the jokes aged like fine wine...
Posting 2000s and 90s memes is violence against us old people on this site.
I blocked r/oldschoolcool for this very reason last year.
oh yeah, time to make you all feel old. I am an adult, and I was not yet 2 by the time this joke was overused
