On his second day Biden will have already done worse than trump at handling covid. This was my biggest worry. When you have someone capital trusts in that position they will fuck you over even worse.

Not to lapse into personal responsibility brain, but if adults can't manage to be crowded inside buildings without fucking up social distancing and ignoring masks, kids sure as fuck can't be. And even if they can, the new strain goes right through cloth masks. There is no "safely" reopening schools.

Im no anarcho-bidenist ofc but I don't think this means literally reopening schools and businesses on day 2, more like putting measures into place to fight covid with a view to ultimately reopening?

Yeah, but that doesn't sell to the doomer mindset.

He'll probably open up to early and fuck it up, but it doesn't say that they'll open up immediately like people in here seem to think.

Lol what? This has nothing to do with being a doomer. It doesn't matter if they do this plan on his second day or his 100th day, there is no safe way to open back up until everyone is vaccinated. These new strains don't give a shit about your paper masks and letting everyone walk around while vaccine rollout is going at a snail's pace is just letting more new strains mutate.

Acknowledging this isn't being a doomer, you have to acknowledge it to even have a game plan in the first place.

The doomer mindset is taking an anodyne statement about how they'll tackle coronavirus (and almost certainly bungle it) in order to be able to open schools and businesses and acting like the sky is falling because of it.

Nothing changed, the dem plan will still be insufficient.

I should definitely say it's impossible to do it IN AMERICA before near 100% vaccination. If you don't have a lot of cases then obviously this isn't as big a concern, but America has allowed this thing to run absolutely wild. Keep in mind these numbers are like this while tons of people trying to stay home as much as possible doing everything they can individually to limit it's spread. If they begin to force people back into schools and work while the situation is still far from controlled then essentially every school, place of work, gathering, amusement park etc will be a super spreader event. We've seen the spread through the holidays already and that's with historically low travel in the US.

If you don't have a lot of cases then yes there actually is a pathway for a safe reopening, it's like being on 3rd already. America on the other hand hasn't even hit the ball yet.

I mean, Australia is not really comparable because you can usually count the number of community cases in the entire country on one hand.

Are you seriously trying to make an argument that Biden's Covid rollout isn't an improvement over the previous administration?

I can't tell if this is ironic or not lmfao if it's not then I'll say yeah this is absolutely shit. Trump didn't give a fuck and it was obvious to anyone, Biden doesn't give a fuck but is cynically using science as a means to assure everyone opening is safe when it fucking isn't.

Well Biden kind of is the lesser evil:

(...) Biden will reverse Trump's "Muslim Ban" and end restrictions on immigration from some Muslim-majority countries, rejoin the Paris climate accord and ask the Department of Education to extend the existing pause on student loan payments and interest for millions of Americans.

Still evil though, see Harukiller14's comment. I'm glad Trump's gone, I work towards Biden being gone too.

Most k-12 around me are hybrid. Most colleges I know are all online classes with a small portion of the students having moved on campus who were also there during the fall. But my college has told us they’re planning to force us on-campus in the fall already so... we’ll see.
