The AstraZeneca vaccine was originally developed by Oxford and was going to be public info so countries could make their own (I’m simplifying it going off of memory).
The Gates Foundation urged them to sell the rights to it to AstraZeneca instead, thus killing the plan to make it public. South Africa may not use it now, but that could quite literally be ol’ Bill’s fault since he had it privatized
I still hold the personal conspiracy theory that Bill Gates’ foundation urged Oxford to sell the rights to their vaccine to AstraZeneca (instead of making it public) so that countries in Africa (etc.) would lose population under COVID.
We’ll probably never get like a leaked thing that confirms his true reasoning for doing it but I think it’s a good educated guess because:
I almost pulled it entirely out of my ass, but damn does it sound true in my head
Funnily enough it’s 50/50 in r/politics
Half say bad, half say “it’s our money why would we give it to the new bad government” :brainworms:
Well as you can clearly see on the YouTube comment, there are 32 upvotes and zero downvotes, thus it has been democratically decided upon as true
Try r/news instead since it’s for US news and see if they ban you lol
Not enough Jack! I still see em every now and then runnin around makin a bunch of rowdy newfangled sounds :biden-troll:
“I refuse to grow as a person!” I scream to protect my ego as I morph into :frothingfash:
Yeah it definitely shouldn’t be surprising someone so privileged would have bad takes on certain things, but to have such a bad basically eugenicist take on COVID, even on something as stupid and a non-issue as masks, still caught me off guard
I like, lower my expectations for certain people to account for things like say, choosing to put $200,000 towards a dumbass car, but holy shit even for a rich left commentator I didn’t see that level of :frothingfash: coming
Just walked in on Hasan basically supporting anti-mask, saying we need to get back to normal and can’t center our lives around immunocompromised, and suggesting a chatter with a lung condition who called him out probably doesn’t actually have a condition.
Maybe the expensive house and car were red flags after all. He’s now covering Ukraine from a good perspective but holy shit I don’t think I can listen to him anymore
Nation not even trying at all says if you think we’re doing nothing, watch this
I think that makes sense. It’s hard for me to imagine the logic because I haven’t believed anything similar to that in a long time.
You raise a good point, and I think along that line all the extreme anti-authoritarian government tropes in media and school have helped create a paranoia around stuff like this. Chuds have always been known to eat up slippery slope fallacies after all, and “freedom” is part of their identity
Oh yeah I remember that one. I never heard of it being found either
How come meditation is nearly impossible for you?
A lot of people have a misconception that meditating requires you to completely clear your mind, which isn’t really true. In my experience the approach is to try the best you can to not engage deeply with passing thoughts, and just recognize you’re having them and move on.
I’m not flexible enough to lotus sit comfortably, so I just do it in a chair I can sit upright in.
According to Western articles I’ve read the common “concern” is that frequently quarantining large areas will disrupt (treat) production for the global economy.
Not sure if that concern is in complete bad faith and they just want them to get a taste of the suffering and instability, or if they genuinely think sending workers in to work sick repeatedly is viable and better despite the labor shortages and supply line issues happening in front of their eyes in countries that opened up.
Not sure offhand. There’s been a lot of plane crash articles over the past few years (not only the US) and most of them blend together in my mind. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened though.
Realistically I just assume the F35 had a defect or something but who knows. Boeing kept crashing shit repeatedly why not the military too lol
Lol that makes this so much weirder honestly.
I don’t see any other results from a quick search other than a few articles speculating about China participating in causing Havana syndrome which is also funny. Both the news writing about Havana syndrome and a 16 follower account writing this are almost indistinguishable levels of “quality” and importance imo
Ah, I remember some controversy over a minuscule blood clot risk and it getting paused in some Euro countries or something like that too.
I remember it being somewhat less effective (not sure how much offhand), but if it had been publicly available to begin with that still would have been much more than anything else the West has done to help globally.
Also yeah I saw that “poorer countries can’t be trusted to make their own vaccine” bullshit argument from libs so much awhile back. Shit was infuriating.
