Based on my belief that reddit is about 90% an op on any major sub, it makes sense that since Covid isn't allowed to be a problem anymore in America, that the narrative can easily flip like a switch in the coronavirus sub.
there's probs some astroturfing but in all honesty the average person checked out on covid around this time last year and it's showing even in spaces which used to be pretty pro-caution
It really doesn't take that much astroturfing to change the narrative on Reddit, and considering how much traffic on Reddit comes from US military airfields...
Source: Reddit itself gave the data. They took it down later but it's still documented here https://www.reddit.com/r/Blackout2015/comments/4ylml3/reddit_has_removed_their_blog_post_identifying/
Reddit just straight up bragged about it then deleted the post
They've been obnoxious from the start. I remember browsing it when the virus first began to be taken serious. You had two major camps. One being more realistic and concerned about it. The other camp cried about the "Sensationalists" and claimed they just wanted everyone to be as miserable as them.
Also immunocompromised. I'm just rapid testing daily so I know when I'm eligible for Paxlovid (and when to start self-isolating), since it only works if you take it within 5 days of symptom onset. America's covid response requires individualist measures :covid-cool:
For those playing from home, "incubus" is the male pronoun, and "concubus" is the gender neutral one. I came here to scold @Ideology, and I ended up schooling myself, instead.
Idk about astroturfing - could be, probably is lol - but a lot of folks there legitimately don’t give a fuck about anyone who’s generally more at risk yeah. I remember a thread from a month or two back where people were whining about compromising their freedoms (wearing a mask outside) for a tiny minority. Indistinguishable from r/conspiracy or any other reactionary sub.
A lot of people still have the idea that if you are vaccinated its impossible to get or spread covid(or at least extremely rare). They don't even want to think about immunocompromised people. Americans are so used to burying there head in the dirt about issues that its second nature at this point
You’re asking the same people who un ironically think it’s ok for hospitals to charge for parking. To actually give a shit about people with disabilities. Good luck :dem:
The virtue of liberals is defined by rule following. The rules have changed, so now not wearing a mask is fine.
