In a way that you can say that a majority of people on this planet or in your sphere have not experienced this or are affected by this to the degree that you have. Literally anything is valid, no matter how mainstream, all that matters is that you feel you have a unique experience with it to the point where you can discuss it with others on a more personal level. This can range from intrinsic parts of your being to niche interests.
Use this thread to talk about either things you don't feel are talked about enough here or to bond over interests you otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to share :shrug-outta-hecks:
I strongly recommend that you do not doxx yourself through specificity any degree further than already dropped info within the bounds of your current handle about the topic, unless you are sure that it cannot connect you to your real name when connected with all other info dropped. Otherwise: Keep it vague, keep it simple. Feel free to just straight-up lie.
For me:
- Judaism (reform)
- transness
- ADHD (especially the struggle against procrastination)
- my experiences at a yearly overnight camp
- going to an intrinsically unhinged suburban high school specifically designed around "college prep" (to the point where my college stress level is pitiful comparatively)
- composing music (on a self-taught level)
- specific works, some which I've shared here include:
- CrossCode
- OMORI
- Disco Elysium
- Xenoblade
- JoJo
- a couple of past interests that I have fallen out of but still remember my experiences within them vividly:
- Overwatch esports (it's a fucking trip whenever I see xQc in my feed when I remember I watched the Arc 6 rant live)
- Geometry Dash (I can discuss this. I refuse to discuss it under most circumstances, but I can)
- and some very niche things that I'm not super invested in but the fact that I've experienced them and vaguely remember them is enough to count here imo:
- a couple niche/spinoff wii games such as Help Wanted, Mario Sports Mix, and Spectrobes Origins. Also a Ben 10 game that I, for the life of me, cannot remember the name of.
- two absolute bangers I played on my dad's (now non-functioning) PS2: Ape Escape 2/3
just wanted to post this since i'm doing a lot of introspection on personal experience and what defines me as me and not just someone, and I kinda feel like it's a good line of thought to facilitate people's personal expressions. individualistic, of course, but it's a harmless individualism in the end.
that's really it. please don't share info that has a clear path to your irl identity. I vetted each item here to make sure they were all either things I shared previously and things, when put together, could not collectively link back to my identity.
O is for "Oh really?"
W is for "Well okay then"
L is for "Look at this shit"
That's how you owl
- living on a reservation
- playing live music and touring
- how to setup a diy venue
- jumping between trades
- adhd
- working out with what you've got
- basically everything about pro wrestling
going to an intrinsically unhinged suburban high school specifically designed around “college prep” (to the point where my college stress level is pitiful comparatively)
Oh SAME, college was so easy compared to high school and I had so much free time. I found it rare for most people to relate to that.
Some of mine could be:
- Catholic teachings (against my will 🤮) and various apologetics because I really thoroughly deconstructed when I deconverted.
- CPTSD and its treatment, from both all the therapy books I've read and lived experience.
- Same for OCD, BDD, and depression... I have researched so much in my journey to "fix myself."
- How to avoid COVID and also why you want to avoid getting COVID - I am an open book for anyone with questions about masks, ventilation, etc. because I want everyone on this site to get though this as healthy as possible!
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf in particular I know everything about, largely due to playing excessively to cope with quarantine, and I have all the links you could ever need to online resources for the game. I do this for one game every few years really.
- This is more a skill but I know how to orgasm with zero physical stimulation. I'm very proud of learning how to do it but you just can't brag about these things in polite company
edit: Ooh, just remembered, I know a lot about cats and specifically a good deal about how to teach your cat to use a set of buttons to communicate. It's worked fantastically for me and my cat over the past year or so.
Yeah I had missionary parents and I'm not religious now, so yeah that sucks, though I got the baptist versions and not the Catholic ones lol.
The cat one sounds cool, if I get a cat in the future do you mind me asking for tips? It sounds really cool.
As for that orgasm one, that's real? I remember going down the rabbit hole when I was like 17 and getting a really weird bunch of YouTube videos lol. But I'll take your word for it.
Yeah, I'm still unpacking so much religious bullshit in trauma therapy. It's ridiculous how much garbage has been crammed into my head.
And yes, please do ask me! I love talking about cats :meow-melt: Mine is the biggest source of joy in my life right now... Sometimes I wonder "Is this hell?" and then I look at her and know that it can't be because of just how wonderful she is.
I can confirm that touchless orgasms are very real! I never really learned from guides or videos though. I am multi-orgasmic so I tend to masturbate infrequently but for a much extended period, and this gave me a lot of time to learn and understand how building arousal feels until I could do it without stimulation. I also occasionally have spontaneous orgasms when stoned on weed so I used that experience as a jumping off point too.
Yeah I probably need to go see a mental health professional soon, all the bs thoughout childhood combined with my recent rapid mood swings and anger issues is not sustainable lol. Really hope I haven't had anything start/onset in my early 20s or taken COVID 19 brain damage.
About cats, since you like talking about them so much I'll ask a question or two when I can come up with them. I've spent like 10 minutes trying to think of something and I can't really. Feel free to just say whatever pops up in your mind about them.

That was a great episode, one of the only ones I really remembered watching. I was in love with both sailing ships and space ships as a kid (oh, who am I kidding, I still do) so that's probably why it stuck with me.
Not that I can really recall. He always did make sure the father son stuff with Jake rang as real, but indont see anything Boutnhim having much extra do to with the episode. Avery Brooks doesn't really talk about star trek ever though
Pee pee
poo poo
farding
crying
that's pretty much my contribution to society
What's the most efficient crying position? I used to be able to curl up into a ball but now that I have a cyborg spine it's impossible now. Any tips?
Of course! First things first, you want to make sure you've got several strands of hair covering your face as you cry so it doubles as peatmoss to really enhance your look. Now, considering your situation, i would recommend gratuitous use of your forearms to rest your head as you cry since you can't ball up. This moistens the arm as you turn into a wet, sloppy mess. Your eyes, and your arm, will be clean after the event.
Thanks for the tips, will apply the next time the existential dread hits!

does OFF count in that statement because other than that it's just OMORI for me there lol

Extremely severe kyphosis (hunchback) and scoliosis (S curve on your spine), otherwise known as kyphoscoliosis when you have both at the same time.
-
Spinal fusion and the recovery afterwards, because of, y'know, the kyphoscoliosis. Which can take years and I'm still busy with years later. (Still not fully comfortable with basic stuff like swimming and jogging/running, only recently re learnt how to float "on your back" in a body of water).

Being a closeted bisexual person since a teenager.

also got a scholarship to a unhinged boarding all boys high school lmao. (Still very popular over here, many such schools). Please never ever send your kids to a single sex school.
-
Urban exploration and wilderness exploring and stuff like that, though I won't be doing it again. At least no where near as dangerous.
Feel free to ask any questions about this stuff, it's all things I've shared already on my account on here.

Trains.
But for real I have an encyclopedia of railway knowledge in my head. Ask me a question and I'll probably have an answer.
If I want to learn more about trains but don't really know a ton of train people, what's the best resource for a beginner?
Wikipedia is the ideal place to start imo. It has a lot of bias when talking about communism but a lot less when talking about trains. It's the main way I gained my knowledge. I also try to do educational trainposts from time to time.
I do enjoy the educational trainposts!
What's a train or train related concept you find particularly interesting?
Right now it's carload freight (see my recent mega). I am just now beginning to understand how freight trains work, they are just that complicated.

About microwave cooking techniques, whats the best, putting food in the side or centre? The sides are hotter, but I feel the warm up or cook becomes uneven. So I end up pausing halfway through and rotating the food.
Thanks for the tips I'll try it out next time I cook or warm something up
Also I played geometry dash in highschool in between classes, I started playing it again like over 8 years later now, my only question is how the fuck does anyone do anything harder than the base levels that come with the game? My reaction times are ok I guess, but the rhythm and flashing colours and everything on screen fucks me up. It's like overstimulation and everything.
Also I'm still no where near as good as highschool me at the game lol. Though my skills in other video games have improved massively.
:yea: you get used to it, just like all other rhythm games
gd is worse about it due to the custom fx but
honestly i never was a big custom demon completer. i wasn't even good at the game. my fondest memories were community-based, a la creating a semi-fake collab level which allowed me to scam my way into the admin position in the semi-official forum at age 10 for two straight days with unchecked power and then running two seperate account boosting grifts over the course of two years. good times
not even embellishing there, very true events that i vividly remember happening. i have no idea how the fuck i pulled those schemes off. my best explanation so far is "preteens be doin shit". maybe the fact that i was literally processing the sequence of each event one step at a time helped the authenticity of it :shrug-outta-hecks:
This reminds me of clash of clans back in the day, how every clan was run by a 10 year old lol
holy shit i facetimed a stranger because of clash of clans and i remember that they were like a year younger than me and also i could hear spanish in the background. i forgot about that :what-the-hell: preteens really just be doing shit wtf
I used to have a Playstation network account in my moms name in like the late 2000s, because I was a kid and my boomer-x parents set everything up. So some creep fought I was a girl and messaged me after a Call of Duty MW2 game, back when the game was brand new. (Also, I wasn't allowed to play this game because I was under the age restriction back then, so I sneaked a copy from a friend and their older brother lol). Said creep immediately ghosted after finding out I was a boy lol.
Kids really be doing stuff :wut:
I'm the kind of sicko that cranks up particle effects and screenshake whenever I'm allowed to, so IDK I can't help you lol
I played geometry dash for a very long time and could never reliably do even 'easy' user created demon levels (I think I have about 75 demons total, which while a lot I think compared to everyone was definitely lower than other people 'surrounding me' on the leaderboards). I check about once a month to see if 2.2 is out which I guess will never happen.
How do you still use quora in 2022, I feel like it's become the new Yahoo answers in a way.
Is there still good stuff on there?
The only thing that comes to mind is character analysis in Yakuza. I could talk for hours about why Kiryu does the things he does
i've always wanted to get into yakuza but my mac/nintendo consoles don't lend itself to getting into it organically :yea:
i've got a couple friends like this, who could talk for hours about Guts, Shinji, Lelouch, Hachiman, etc. and why they do what they do and how they connect to their creators interests and intentions.
For me I guess a few come to mind, though not in any way as elaborate as some of my friends can: Shulk Xenoblade, Sunny OMORI, Lea CrossCode, :lt-dbyf-dubois: and :lt-kitsuragi:
The best property for me for that is JoJo. I'm equipped to discuss most every JoJo protag/antag, specifically Dio, Johnny, Kira, Gyro, Funny Valentine, Giorno, Jo2uke, and of course Jotaro.
