  • my understanding of Quakers is that they tend to be pretty liberal politically and are pretty opposed to any sort of violence/revolution. there's also a lot of historical examples of big time Quaker capitalists/companies (like Barclay's) and when i reached out to a Quaker subreddit i got pretty tepid responses about their feelings on socialism and especially revolutionary socialism. some did point out though that Marx may have been influenced by John Bellers, a famous Quaker, so there is that

  • It's very easy to feel hopeless and alone right now, I certainly do. What I can offer you is solidarity and love, and the encouragement that the Marxist movement is growing worldwide getting more and more dedicated comrades every single day. If anything you can hang on to the hope that you will get somewhere better some day and join a group to engage in struggle against capitalism.

There's a lot of fighting we have to do before any sort of collapse is imminent. Stay away from those subreddits. Wherever you go, you will be welcome in the socialist movement if there is one. We need you in this fight comrade, you're not alone.

  • The first part of this article is a good primer: https://reformandrevolution.org/2021/01/21/winning-the-dirty-break-under-biden-what-next-for-dsa/ basically it's the idea that we should build independence from the Dems while tactically using their ballot line from time to time

  • I've worked on a ton of campaigns. The Democratic ballot line is useful but we have to be clear that it is a tool. Too many DSA people have this idea in our heads that we can fix the Democratic Party, which we cannot. They will always crush and disarm any progressive or socialist attempt to change the party. The answer is the dirty-break: using the Dem ballot line where it's useful and moving towards the goal of forming a socialist party with mass membership and a real connection to labor.
