or swap in a straightened paper-clip for the shitty plastic strip most disposables have that doesn't hold shape.

Use pliers to straighten a clip and bend over the ends so it doesn't get stabby, cut a slit in an outer layer of the mask-strip-sleeve to slide out the plastic shit and slide in the metal. When shaped well it drastically reduces fogging.

This also illustrates what a shitty job most masks are doing at retaining aerosols, which are otherwise blowing out past your nose. Between the neck gaiters, bandanas, and badly fitted masks I see everywhere, I think most people's face coverings are nowhere near as effective as they could and should be.

Most ways you might drop them won't phase them either.

But if you forget to put water in, you'll melt the rubber gasket and make your kitchen stink! Luckily the gaskets are cheap.

Get the original Bialetti - still cheap, and a piece of Italian 1930s history. Cup sizes are espresso cups, so the 3-cup is a good size for one person, 6-cup for two.

Yeah, the Aeropress designer has a weird belief that oils are unhealthy which is apparently why Aeropress don't sell one. Luckily third parties make a wire mesh filter.

Agreed they're great, but also consider Moka pots - probably even more durable, and if you get the original Bialetti they have the cool Italian waiter dude logo on the side from the company that's been making them since the 1930s.

After years of Aeropress we switched to Moka - it's a richer more satisfying cup to me. 3-cup Moka makes a good strong coffee for one person (3 espresso cups, so about half a mug). Drink as espresso or microwave some milk in your mug for a frothless latte or water for an Americano.

Aeropress or Moka are durable, inexpensive, and make excellent coffee.

  • There's 5 of us now! GenX-er mildly pissed off to share a bracket with the boomers, but then again, being GenX no big step up, we've collectively done fuck-all but go with the flow. For me it's social suicide in my peer group to go against the forced whistling-in-the-dark optimism for blue-MAGA and the "socialism is when the government does things" utter political illiteracy.

You can also all hate me because I'm not ML - just aligned with the critique of the current and glad to be find a place I can get that perspective away from the absurdity of mainstream 'analysis'. There's a cavernous gulf between where we are and anywhere I might start thinking "these ML policies are going too far".
