i-spil-my-jice I must admit that I don’t read theory as much as I’d like to and I also know nothing about books/literature :( But I want to start reading about gender theory (from a marxist perspective). What was the book that was stickied to this com a while ago? And is that a good book to start or does anyone recommend something else?

Also feel free to recommend any fun fiction books that have lots of trans representation. I’m not a huge literature nerd but I do love a good story that’s a bit easy to read (I used to enjoy scifi and fantasy)

Have you read the gender accelerationist manifesto? It's just an essay but it covers a lot of theory.

I heartily recommend Gender Outlaw: On Men, Women and the Rest of Us by Kate Bornstein (2016 revision) can skip the theatre stuff if it doesn't jive with you, the rest is a great read.

Her book "Hello Cruel World" was really helpful to me early into tiptoeing out of the closet. Big CWs for mental health and suicide, the whole thing is pretty much about suicide prevention and I'm sure some of the terminology is dated, but she's like, in her mid 70s, right? I remember thinking it was good and got a lot out of it but that was around a decade ago.

Yeah she's been around for a long time, there's also a follow up to Gender Outlaw called Gender Outlaws which is a recent book

I'll add that to my tbr, thank you ^^

Sterling Karat Gold by Isabel Waidner

Looks very literature but also interesting so I’ll give it a try!

I usually like a longer series of books because it allows me to get used to the setting and writing style but otherwise I’m not really sure kitty-cri

badeline-anxious uh I have a lotta literature soz, pathetically I have been unable to find series with trans rep, uh maybe some Neon Yang novels like the Tensorate series? Most of my books are pretty dang short, like Sterling is 250pp or whatever.
