Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

I’m at my grandfathers house and it always reminds me how I’ll never be as cool as him. He has a few pictures of him with Jacobo Arbenz and talks fondly about the time he met che Guevara during his time in Guatemala.

Any cool anecdotes about the Arbenz years?
Quite a few. He has a journal that he wrote in during that time going into greater detail. He does aggressively challenge anyone who claims Arbenz was a Marxist and insists that he was more of a Democratic-Socialist sympathetic to Marxist principles.
My grandfather was and still is a Marxist. He talks about how Communism was in a weird place during the Arbenz presidency. Many were receptive to its ideas but still weren’t fully sold on it. This left the Communist movement too small to really make a huge impact.
He claims that Arbenz being more of a Democratic-Socialist is ultimately what did him in and compares his downfall to Allende in Chile: two well-meaning people who were too soft and did too little too soon to prevent the reactionary elements from getting their way.
That seems pretty accurate to what I've read as well. But it makes it even worse that the US couldn't even tolerate a Democratic-Socialist. It reminds me of them calling Kamala a communist in current conservative discourse. They don't care. Anything slightly to the left of them is a danger and must be stopped. The ratchet must only be turned right, never left, even a little.
If you get a chance please preserve those journals and see if you can publish them in some fashion. That kind of first-hand account is absolutely vital to historians. People five hundred years from now will start crying for joy if they find a well preserved first person document like that.
