seems odd, but I'd like to see a better explanation than "they're faking the numbers" with no evidence.

A lot businesses also didn't stop requiring masks within their stores.

I figured it was something along these lines. If this is the case why aren't their per cap cases as high as other states'? Would that be due to climate?

Yeah doing the loosening thing is gonna make Dem voters even more resolute to mask up and all that

Just anyone who isn't a psycho really. When we had an anti mask protest here pretty much everyone got way more serious about being safe because those few psychos could start a super spreader.

I don't think this is a sufficient explanation tbh

Can you add some context? is Texas distributing vaccines more effectively than other places? Many other states have rising cases this month despite vaccine distribution and stricter precautions. My understanding is that vaccine rollout is around 10% complete, which will make a dent, but it's going to be a couple more months before things really stabilize. It doesn't make sense to me that vaccines are the only component of this.

Would you agree that it's appropriate to lift all covid restrictions at this time nationwide, since things seem to be going well in Texas?

IDK, but the only outlets I see covering it are yikes so I think waiting a day or two for story to shake out would be best

True, realistically it's gonna take a couple of years for the epidemiologists to really dig into the data (on both the larger worldwide/national scale, and whatever may or may not be happening here)

Yeah I’ve recently connected with a lung doctor and the shit he’s been saying about Covid and post Covid illness means we will be dealing with some shit for a while.

Just straight up people who haven’t tested positive for months still running around with untreatable symptoms. Count me fucking out and that vaccine can’t come soon enough 😷

true, but they have cities too, it sounds like it may be an urban/rural divide thing, where most rurals never enforced/obeyed the state policy in the first place (also spread out and stuff), and urban folks love to do the exact opposite of what their state government tells them to do (usually not the worst idea in Texas). I would also guess that there are city/county level mask/capacity restrictions in urban areas, but I'm not going to Google it cause I'm lazy.
