why is this happening.

The type of people who watch destiny are the type of people who think "epic dunking on SJWs compilation" is the height of being right about politics and there is literally nothing good that can come from this.

I got 5$ that says Destiny zeroes in on the fact that Wolff has criticisms of China almost immediately and then the rest of the time is spent doing what-about-china-though games.

Do you know why it is that "SJW owned" compilations are so successful? Chud grifters go to college campuses, find some freshman that is already crying and then ask them a loaded question like, "Did you know that socialism is actually not 'power to the people' because socialism means big government and the bigger the government, the socialister it is?" When actual educated comrades call them out or say something informative, they cut it from the video. The success of the "SJW owned" compilation relies on the production being entirely fabricated.

In an environment, where 1) socialism is represented by a highly educated person, 2) the discussion is moderated in a way that is not biased in favor of the reactionary, 3) the video remains unedited, the spectacle of "SJW owned" can not be achieved. Even if Destiny pulls some ghoulish tricks as you say, it would not create the same spectacle of "SJW owned" This presents the audience with an apparent contradiction, the contradiction between the fabricated "triggered SJW lib" and the well educated Marxist professor. The viewer must then ask themself, "Why is this Marxist professor not being owned by Destiny immediately?" or "Why do I agree with some of the things that this Marxist professor is saying?".

Youths are not set in their ways. I say this as someone who frequently watched reactionary content on youtube in my teenage years during the late 2000s and early 2010s. Some examples would be "the amazing atheist", "thunder foot", "sargon of akkad". They all produced "SJW owned" type content masked with "enlightened atheism". I watched this content not because I had bad intentions but because I was lead to believe that what these people were saying was good and right. It was not until I discovered Marxism that I realized that these reactionaries are pieces of shit. I know that I am not the only person on this website who watched reactionary content in their youth before discovering socialism. I suspect that some of Destiny's viewers will experience the same.

I was one of the "epic dunking on SJWs" people when I was like 19.

People can grow out of those views.

Nobody said otherwise. You know what would be an even bigger own than debating this asshole? Publicly canceling it and announcing that its cancelled because of Destiny's history of using racist language. He gets no platform - and he gets owned. But the people hosting this crap are more concerned about being content creators than socialists.

But he is the platform in this case, Wolff would be deplatforming himself rather than deplatforming him. The Serfs and Wolff are way smaller than Destiny.

It sucks but that's how it currently is right now. I don't think cancelling it would have any kind of positive impact.

ok and? Who is bringing in more viewers?

You cannot deplatform someone who already has a bigger platform than you.

Why are you acting like destiny has a chance at not embarrassing himself? You seem upset your educated comrades are going to be taking shots at a big reactionary platform.

So what do you think socialists have to gain by not debating liberals in such events? What could Wolff be doing with his time that's so much more valuable than this? Go on another obscure leftist platform to preach to the choir?

I would much prefer him go on a small platform of... lets say.. BIPOC leftists for example rather than pal around with the N word guy. That is correct yes.

Sorry but that's not good strategy IMO, at that point we're just patting ourselves on the back, nobody watches tiny leftist platforms except other leftists. They have their use insofar as they make accessible various obscure or marginalized viewpoints but if you believe they're gonna get big any time soon you're lying to yourself. And that's what the left needs, it needs way more exposure than it's getting currently, and you're not gonna get it with tiny leftist platforms. Wolff going on a tiny leftists platform would likely bring nobody involved any new insight.

Leftists should be trying to wedge themselves into large mainstream platforms, debatebros included. I'd like to see Wolff talk about marxism on prime time MSNBC for example but we're pretty far from that.

Putting them before gamers how? How do you think Wolff going on a small 1k subscriber BIPOC stream help BIPOC people in any meaningful way? It won't do anything tangible, not one thing, Wolff is not an expert in BIPOC issues nor does he claim to be one. You'll have 1k comrades nodding along with whatever Wolff has to say (probably general stuff about the economy) and everybody will go about their day none the wiser.

On the other hand his debate with Destiny might chip away some amount of Destiny's fanbase. It won't be this earth shattering change in politics but it has a chance of doing SOMETHING.

Sure, if there's a large online platform comparable to Destiny's with an audience of predominately apolitical BIPOC then yeah Wolff should absolutely go there, but I don't see one honestly. I honestly can't see how Wolff could realistically reach a large audience of BIPOC people today.

White edgelord teenagers is what's on the table today. Tomorrow maybe he goes on prime time national television to talk about marxism, but we're not there yet.

Wolff is actually going to speak at a bipoc, post-capitalist conference that centers indigenous and ecological issues, later this week... I get where you're coming from and you're probably right but I think this destiny thing is just part of him making the rounds with various speaking engagements over the past couple weeks.

Doesn't matter. He is the one with more influence. Most of the people watching will be his fans.

Also I'm pretty sure most of the time when these things happen it gets streamed on each of the side's personal streams, so I'm pretty sure Destiny will be streaming the thing on his official stream, making him also the platform.

I'm going to guess that you are talking about Destiny here. Destiny is not being portrayed as a socialist in the debate. Destiny is labeled with the word "capitalism" in the image of the tweet. The debate is being called "Capitalism vs Socialism" and Destiny is representing capitalism.

And I hate to say it but Destiny has the larger platform. He gets thousands of live viewers on average. The Serfs only usually get around 600. Destiny will likely stream his own perspective of the debate on his channel. Destiny will be platforming 2 socialists on his channel: The Serfs and Wolff.

You can't deplatform someone who has a larger platform than you.

I have no idea where you guys are getting this nonsense.

              I misunderstood your sentence.

"so maybe lets not platform reactionaries as supposed socialists." reads as "so maybe lets not platform 'reactionaries as supposed socialists'. "

You are missing a comma at the least: "so maybe lets not platform reactionaries, as supposed socialists."

Better wording would be like: "maybe supposed socialists should not platform reactionaries".

I want to be clear that I am not nitpicking your grammatical ability as some kind of dunk on you. I genuinely could not understand that wording of your sentence. I try to word my posts in a way that is easy for everyone to understand. I hope that everyone on the site does the same.
