let's take out everything that made the zelda games so loved (amazing music, unique dungeons, fun enemies and bosses, cool equipment) and replace it with a barren wasteland of an open world thats filled with the exact same mini-dungeons that get boring after like the fourth time you do them, and populated with the same 3 types of enemies. the exploring gets so boring so fast, because it's just the shrines, korok seeds and towers, that are all the same. even the rare unique puzzles just open up another shrine when you complete them

there's no incentive to exploring either, cause your only rewards are health/stamina and ocassionally a rare weapon/armor - but those dont matter, because weapons break after like 4 hits and theres no way to fix them, so your best bet is to just avoid combat altogether.

also, lets make it rain every 10 minutes to to make the best part of the game (the climbing) stop working

honest to god dont understand how people gave it 10/10s

I keep hearing this more recently than ever and it makes me sad. That was the one game I was going to get the switch for. I keep hearing rumors they're going to make a slightly more powerful switch and I sorta been holding out for that. I was never a huge Nintendo guy besides SNES and N64, only a handful of games are out on the Switch I can't play on PC or PS4 so it's hard to justify the purchase if I'll end up practically never using it. I'd probably still end up playing it though tbh

It’s good, don’t let internet people define your opinion. Let yourself enjoy things.

i was worried about how the performance was on the switch a lot, i've seen some rough videos of it sometimes. It's kinda a big purchase for me to buy a switch and other stuff and just haven't been super confident about how much use i'd get out of it. but true

There’s a tiny handful of moments where the framerate dips noticeably below its standard 30FPS, but it’s never unplayable. The worst offender is the pedestal with the master sword which gets a little choppy as you approach, and there are no enemies in that area so it really doesn’t affect gameplay.

I didn’t expect to play my switch a ton either, but it gets more use than any other system I own. There’s a lot to be said for having portable Dead Cells/Binding of Isaac/Shantae/etc on the same system as Mario and Zelda.

hell yeah i can feel that, i worry too much about small things like minor performance issues more than some people, those things irk me so hard for whatever reason. idk if you've played Hades but that game would actually be pretty sick to play lounging somewhere instead of hunched over my computer lol. I'm glad a lot of indie devs are porting to switch, that is pretty rad and does make it appeal more to me.

Oh no I completely understand, I’ll spend hours and hours testing PC games, endlessly optimizing the settings so that it never dips below 60FPS but I can still crank the settings I care about. Console games remain playable at lower framerates for some reason, I could be off base here but I assume because game logic isn’t competing with the OS for CPU time so you don’t experience the stuttering and latency that lower framerates on PC gets you.

yeah i sorta get it, cause it's not a thing you can really personally change so the idea of it being as big of a deal probably doesn't weigh on us as much as a PC where I'm suddenly thinking, "okay should i turn down shadows? hmn, maybe the texture needs to go down, oh no it's my dated video card" etc..

don't let random contrarians on the internet dictate what your experience is gonna be. The game became massive for a good reason. It's not perfect by any means, but I put in nearly 200 hours into it and generally had a great time.

yeah you're right, idk i feel like part of it is me making excuses more and more to just not buy a switch cause there just isn't enough games I truly want to play on it. Some cool like arcadey games come out every now and then but their longevity seems mixed at best. I'll probably be one of those people who buys one after a new console release and get all the games and switch discounted considerably. my PC library is insane and I'm not even a quarter through it, ya know?

That's fair. You can also emulate and play the game on PC if that's literally the only switch exclusive you want to play.

The switch is a nifty little device though. I've always had a soft spot for handhelds and having what is essentially a complete console that I can bring with me is pretty cool

oh wasn't even aware switch was emulated? that's sick, that's probably the better option for me because i get serious buyers remorse about things lol. I'm not really a mobile gamer though, so the concept of it doesn't appeal to me as much as having just a solid console

I got a switch and am enjoying it. Not really into any TrIpLe AaaAA GaEmS on other consoles and I can play Wild Guns while watching a movie or whatever cause of the portable mode which I use a lot more than I thought I would.

If you're trying to justify your switch Mario Odyssey and Fire Emblem Three Houses will do that alone.
