when people will catch on that both parties really are the same.

The Sun will go supernova in 4.5 billion years. Hopefully before that?

My favorite example of lib brain is the rationalizations about Joe Manchin. A lot of people in r/politics have told me that because of the "razor thin margins" in congress - compromises have to be made in legislation to get them passed.

And their Manchin solution is not to primary the turd and get him out of there. Oh, no - not that. They say we need to vote harder to get more dems in congress so that his voice is less prominent.

I mean primarying Manchin is literally just "voting harder" how is that any different?

The r/politics people are full of shit that they have to compromise because of "razor thin margins" - that's horseshit. They have a majority they can pass whatever the fuck they want.

But the r/politics people are right that primarying Manchin is stupid because literally the GOP is gonna win that seat in West Virginia anyway. If the left wants to primary incumbent Senators it should be in states where they can win both the primary and the general.

Yeah - Paula Jean Swearingin. She was in that "Knock Down the House" documentary when she tried to primary Manchin in 2018 (got 30% of the primary vote which tbh is kind of impressive).

She won the Dem nomination for Senate in a tough primary in 2020, but lost the general to the incumbent Republican ghoul with only 27% of the vote. She was the worst performing Democrat on the ballot, too. It's a sad reality but running in deep red states means losing, usually badly. Not to say it's worthless - it can build name recognition and such for future runs and could radicalize some people there - but deep red states are deep red for a reason. A progressive can't run statewide in a deep red state and seriously say they're running to win.

Using words like "the uniparty" is a conspiracy theorist tell, in my experience. Unfortunately. They really are united against us.

Both parties both suck, but they are not equally awful. "Both parties are the same" is a libertarian-brained oversimplification.

And as someone else pointed out, stuff like "the uniparty" makes us sound like cranks. Even if you think it's true, you have to find a way to communicate it that people will respond to.

"Both parties are bad" - true, grounded in theory, many people already agree with this

"Both parties are the same" - objectively false, literally fascist propaganda, makes you sound like a crank, most Americans' lived experiences directly contradict this

I'm flattered I have a fan club. But if you are keeping tabs on specific posters in a niche communist forum and if you think "Democrats suck but aren't as awful as Republicans" is a defense of Democrats, buddy you need to log the fuck off.

Everyone here knows Biden sucks. This isn't even useful as talking points to bring up with your lib friends, because they either don't care about this stuff or will argue that Biden is better than Trump because at least he's doing XYZ.

What might be useful is a thread of supposedly good stuff Biden’s done, so we can take apart what's actually decent (if anything) and what's shit, but spun as good. That's what your lib friends will go back to, so let's talk about that.
