Am I the asshole for responding to the question "hey, would you like there to be NSFW tags on my BBQ [corpses] a week from now?" with "I would like that, thanks."

Hexbear users: a week's worth of struggle sessions about how vegans are lying assholes who are only pretending to have trauma to personally target carnists and make them feel bad

But it's the vegans who are assholes

"Am I the asshole for FORCING my vegan daughter to cook meat?"

I mean, holy shit guy, read back how you wrote it. Fucking inhuman.

Did you look it up? The daughter threw away a pot of beef chili. Her mother forced her to cook a new beef chili to replace what she threw away. Still seems a bit fucked (on top of the eating animals part), but it's somewhat less psychotic than it seemed from the title.

I love how much the carnists fly off the handle if someone tells them they shouldn't eat tendies anymore. They are more sensitive than chuds with that stuff, that's half the reason I do it because yeah tbh your BBQ burger does look disgusting.

Hexbear makes fun of Reddit for going nuclear on dogposting: haha jokes look at those libs.

When dogposting comes to Hexbear: SHUT IT DOWN. SHUT IT ALL DOWN.

The NSFW enforcement on this site is kind of nonsense. Regularly you see posts that are marked NSFW just because it's a photo of a republican politician or reactionary tweet. Then daily, there are multiple sexual or kink related posts not marked NSFW.

Here's some photos of tortured human corpses not marked NSFW https://hexbear.net/post/103586

If most users want to mark hamburgers as NSFW because vegans feel its like gore, I am not opposed. But why is human gore not marked NSFW? Why are cheeseburgers marked NSFW for being animal gore but the human corpses tortured by imperial japan not marked NSFW?

I was working on implementing a tagging system before I quit as a mod.

But the real answer is that you should report any posts that you think should be tagged. Mods will take it down and ask that it be reposted with CWs.

Somehow these criticisms always come to roost on vegan posts like y'all only care when veganism comes up. It's not that hard, go report posts. Go write comments complaining about lack of tags on the offending posts, not here.

I did report the post and nothing was done, despite the post having full frontal nudity with intestines hanging out.

I'm not criticizing veganism. I'm pointing out that the NSFW is not enforced consistently, so the tag is kind of pointless currently. Things that should be tagged NSFW are not tagged as such and things that are tagged as NSFW are usually tagged that way as a joke.

If posts are mostly flagged as NSFW as a joke and animal product food is flagged as NSFW, then uninitiated people are likely to associate flagging animal product food as NSFW as being a joke.

You mention that the mods have to remove the post and ask that it be reposted with proper tags. Wouldn't it make more sense if mods had the ability to flag posts as NSFW without removing them?

Obviously, and it's in the works. You're welcome to volunteer as a dev. No one's getting paid to work on the site, let alone paid for crunchtime, so you'll just have to wait or help out.

I would love to see this. Because, on my end, all I see is "Removed Comment "have compassion for people that dont want terfs and nazis to die!" no. by crispyhexagon" for "intentionally misrepresenting argument". Weird!

edit: Oh I see which one you're talking about: "youre saying that telling terfs and nazis to go die is bad because "suicide baiting!" and maybe that will make my comrades sad. and im saying that my comrades all want terfs and nazis to die. because terfs and nazis want me to die so no, im not being obtuse. go fuck yourself". In a thread about not baiting people into suicide. Sorry you cant tell others to kill themselves.

Depends how you do it I guess

Informing them on the practice and then them not believing you and asking to see a video I could see being okay.

Whipping out your saved video of a chick blender is pretty dickish to traumatize a kid.

I'd be reticent to show violence to kids just because they're being their usual little contrarian selves. Maybe when they're older and it's planned out. I don't think you have to shock kids to get them to believe you. Repetition will do it just fine. Day 1: in between finding yelling very funny, some kid expresses a doubt. Day 2: that doubt has temporarily become part of their personality and they think it's very funny. Day 3: they fill out the correct answer on the quiz because they did actually internalize it.

I guess it depends what sort of kid we're talking about. I'm thinking like a mid teen, I wouldn't do that to someone younger.

It's more assholish to feed them corpses without their prior knowledge of what that means. If it's not good enough for their eyes, how can it be good enough for their stomachs?

Of course, but you don't have to show children graphic videos to spread the knowledge and you're liable to get into a fight with some reasonably concerned parents no matter how righteous the overall point is.

Can't do abilition until we have a critical mass.

Anyway, it's far more common for parents to force kids to eat corpses even though they know it's an animal and don't want to. It's kind of a false panic to think vegans are targeting kids with slaughterhouse footage.

I'm not strictly opposed to kids seeing that stuff though before they've been indoctrinated out of their compassion, but it's not like on my to do list

We are burdened by normative bullshit to be effective. Incredible horrors are normalized and walking outside of them is considered the weird/offensive thing, oftentimes. Not saying we should pull punches or stay away from shock or hard-line advocacy, but showing violence to other people's little kids would definitely be counterproductive. It's unnecessary for teaching and will alienate others in the wrong way.

The original context is this, though: aita_for_telling_my_sisters_kids_about_veganism

I assumed when they said kids they meant little kids but it's actually teenagers and the poster did only good things. Uncritical support for their actions.

I eat animal products (mostly because I haven't gathered up the gumption and habits to make the switch yet; go ahead, shame me) and I still think this pattern is nuts.

Vegan makes non-vegan eat vegan food? Horrible. Asshole. Even if it's chips and salsa or fries.

Non-vegan tricks or compels vegan to eat meat? Extremely normal, nothing wrong here.

        This is true.

I think I'll take another shot at trying to customize a mix of grain/nutmilks that I like, to replace cow milk. Almond+coconut came somewhat close; there's a good natural foods store nearby that has a bunch.

I've loved rice milk since I was a toddler; it's probably going to be a component.

Oatmeal is my breakfast staple so idk if oat milk in oatmeal would make sense.
