My country's right wing bourgeoise government failed to respond effectively to the pandemic, so now I'm a "libsoc" who is against pro-social health measures.
Although to be fair, I do feel bad for poor people that need to self isolate in a fecking closet.
Or those that were deemed "critical infrastructure" and required to attend work while not being deemed critical enough for PPE or vaccine priority
I'm at the point where when I see these compass memes anywhere I downvote on principal.
“Stripping me of my individual rights” what world are these people living in? Especially in the US. They barely did anything.
“Stripping me of my individual rights” actually means "I was made aware that the decisions I make in my life affect the people in my community, and I didn't like it."
This has been my opinion the entire time. What exactly is the point of being alive if we live to serve no purpose but exist
top comment in the stickied thread. Like mate, all that's happened is you had to stay home more for a year. Like fuck, did you not question what the point of being alive is before when you were most likely forced to constantly work just to afford an apartment and food?
realizing this guy probably had a comfortable life before this. and like, how do lockdowns not make your left wing ideals stronger? like for the first time you experience having to only work and stay home, how do you not go oh damn, this kind of sucks. Maybe we should structure society in a way where this isn't the norm and no one has to experience this.
This but it’s about living to create profit for our owning class overlords
Only doing activities necessary to sustain yourself when outside of work is only bad when you do it to save grandma's life, when you do it to enrich a CEO it's good actually.
I've decided I want a Socialism, but I won't support anything that would actually make a Socialism happen.
This guy is probably American, which means that during COVID he had either a right wing government at the federal level, transitioning to a center to center-right government, and at best, what, a center to center-right government at the state level? Insane that covid policy would make you less left wing.
Communismauthoritarian leftism is when the government does things. This is your brain on the political compass
I'm critical of useless lockdown rules and overintrusive "tracing" but this is only beatable through coordinated measures and mass compliance. If you refuse to follow any large plan to curb this crisis, I regret to inform you that you are indeed :zizek-ok: shniff shtuck :zizek-preference: in shniff LIBERAL :zizek-ok: individualist shniff :zizek-preference: IDEOLOGY
If you're using the term "individual rights" unironically, you've probably never been a leftist.
Anyone who thinks like this deserves to spend the rest of the pandemic in an ICU struggling to breath, maybe at that point they'll understand whats all this fuss about "Public Health".
It is always easy to rationalize our choices if we assume we are not going to suffer the consequences.
It's utterly ridiculous to imagine that Stalin would not have brought in lockdown
