Forgot he didn’t quit like a year ago tho.
Lmao what a king for bilking a show he was absent from for a year. Be sure to email Virgil to congratulate him
Awww. Gonna miss Virgil and Matt arguing about whether anything matters while discussing a state senate seat in Idaho
He seems happier to be a talking head and nod his head to shitty takes from Brihana on bad faith
What's wrong with bad faith? I know basically nothing about it
It started from a pretty lib place, but they've been getting real cool and openly talking about communism and all that. I think some people just kind of want to hate it.
Nobody is buying the pseudo radicalism. The same people dumping on Brianha were also big fans of Matt Taibbi and Lee Fang for christ sake. I don't think they really care about anything being libshit.
Yeah, force the vote was a waste of time and resulted in a struggle session for no point, she was one of the louder voices in that camp.
She admitted on her twitter she has no organizing experience and kept pushing for it despite organizers telling her forcing a vote on M4A would just result in a pointless setback. No longer bad faith, it's bad tactics
This sub/site has always had a problem with the fact it is not actually cool to ask poor people for millions in donations and volunteering, abandon any semblance of a plan, and then silence anyone who actually follows up on left political efforts as a radlib electoralist.
I'm not sure which side you're arguing in favor for by your phrasing.
Aren't they both pretty emphatically at least more than social democrats
Pretty sure Brie was talking about joining socialist alternative in a recent episode, but I don't listen to the pod so idk the details. My gal pal likes it so sometimes i get the interesting stuff recapped for me and it's never seemed too lib.
She is only considering SAlt because she now thinks it's "more left" than DSA because a bunch of people from DSA called her an idiot for supporting Force the Vote. Reactionary shit
a bunch of people from DSA called her an idiot for supporting Force the Vote
Stay losing, radlibs
Reactionary shit
anti-FTV is the status quo position, that's you
Let's do something that's going to lose and won't gain power, good idea.
It's really just Brihana Joy Grey is what's wrong with it. She won't let force the vote die, and when that was going on she showed multiple times that she has no business talking about organizing around anything, or even listening to dissenting views. It's very much a Ryan Knight project in that they're acting like they're more radical because they agree with doing things that everyone else on the left tells them are a bad idea.
Joy Grey is completely wrapped up in the progressive pundit/NGO/campaign staff industry. Virgil clearly wants to be a part of that world whereas the rest of the CTH hosts loathe that world.
She won’t let force the vote die
working class leverage against bourgeois lawmakers please
they’re more radical because they agree with doing things that everyone else on the left tells them are a bad idea.
the left has been so successful! LOL
The real left is actually when you're unable to let FTV go, even bringing it up when everyone else has moved on. Loser mindset https://twitter.com/briebriejoy/status/1385272505993154560
Shooting myself in the dick for the entire country to see, so everyone will know I'm the one true leftist
I do too until I see a clip from the show where he just nods his head up and down to a really bad take
Looks like the beltway garage.... ran out of gas :virgil-sad:
Beltway Garage was a small business that couldnt survive the pandemic
He gets a much bigger check though.
Does he, though? Bad Faith gets 30k/mo from Patreon with two leads, Chapo gets 168k/mo with four (now three). I wouldn't knock the guy for perusing his own creative path, and I'm pretty sure he took a pay cut to do it.
And they used to also share their money with Cumtown
Well, there's your problem.
Has Virgil considered doing ads for Ridgewallet?
Saying “creative differences” is so many words is just boilerplate PR talk for they didn’t get along.
Virgil seemed pretty burnt out after the Sanders Campaign fell apart. Was this a "don't get along" thing, as in Virgil and Felix started throwing punches? Or simply "I want to do a different kind of content"?
u forgot to add the checques he gets from putin and soros :soros: :putin-wink:
Ok well doesn't sound like you listen to them. Clearly the difference was Matt's disengagement from spectacle of politics vs. Virgil's love of wonkery/elections/etc. That's why chapo is still more just shooting the shit and bad faith has very standard political podcast formula but from the left.
Hopefully he'll come back as guest for beltway garage for midterms or something.
I don't think it's directly about the money. It's more that Virgil sees himself as "too serious" for Chapo. He's been doing a pivot from comedy to Serious Politics for a while. My hunch is that he expected a Bernie-admin press position, got too high on his own supply and had a mental breakdown when that all fell apart.
I think he expected a Bernie victory to be a springboard into a career in more serious political punditry, the sort of guy CNN could have on as a talking head.
He gets a much bigger check though.
Motherfucker. Can't believe someone would make a podcast in order to generate income.
This betrays everything that Leftist Podcasting was supposed to represent.
They really need some fresh blood, or at least promote Chris to full-time host. Amber hardly ever makes it on the show anymore either.
Chris sucks, adding him as their 4th doesn't bring anything new and just makes it 4 white dudes talking about white shit
At least Virgil and Amber added something
yeah I would love virgil bringing all the "non-white" topics.
the fuck you talking about?
As I recall, he disappeared sometime around Bernie dropped out of the primary / the start of Covid in the US (~March 2020). He was MIA for months with no explanation, then came back doing Bad Faith but still provided no explanation of why he disappeared.
As far as I remember, there were 2 references to his absence. On one of the Hillary documentary episodes, Chris mentioned that Virgil probably wouldn't be back on the show until after the pandemic blew over. The other time was during one of Matt's streams: someone asked him about it, and he said that Virgil basically wasn't talking to them (apparently he sent over some material to be discussed on the show, but they decided against bringing it up as he wasn't talking to them).
He had a couple of sporadic appearances on Chapo before he started Bad Faith, they even welcomed him back when he first returned
I think it's a spin-off of the wildly successful Citations Needed podcast.
I knew he's not coming back but this still sucks. Him and Matt were my favourite hosts. I still haven't recovered from Giant Bomb falling apart. Even my fake parasocial friendships are falling apart lol :agony-yehaw:
I could see him making a guest appearance for that or a beltway garage bit.
I guess so, are they all still on good terms?
He wasn't there for the 500th episode, and none of the others mentioned or referenced him during the whole thing either...
It's not my business so I've tried not to look into it, but it does seem like they may not be or at least certain parties may not be.
