Subnautica Below Zero. The g*mers are all predictably up in arms because the protagonist is a black woman (who you never see and has barely any voiced lines anyway), so that's fun. It's good and it's really pretty but it's not quite up there with the original
Omg lemme guess it’s “immersion breaking” bc it’s not a “blank slate” like in the original game
ah fuck i went to find one of the threads and at the top post i found this instead talking about the voice of your ingame computer system (cw: racism)
but yeah the political gender and the political race, plus why am i forced to play as someone im not, i say as i ignore my steam library full of grizzled white male protagonists
“Im fine with gay people just don’t shove it in my face, anyway let’s watch one of these millions of pieces of media that’s entire plot revolves around a heterosexual relationship.”
Holy shit just looked at the link was not expecting that wtf
The voice isn’t even that different, i didn’t even think about it. Ughhhh i fucking hate gamers.
I'm playing a brand new game called GTA V because I finally have a laptop that can run a 8 year old game. :virgil-sad:
Strongly considering Kenshi myself
Just picked up Space Haven on a moderate discount and while I’m enjoying it, it’s pretty slow and I don’t think it’s building to much of anything in its alpha state.
I tried space haven a while back and enjoyed what was there. There's the bones of something there but it'll be some years before I'd call it a full game.
Kenshi is amazing, a great mix-up of squad hack&slash and RTS management. but it's almost in the same "late-alpha/early beta" hole Space Haven is in, Lots of things that are clearly unpolished & 2/3rds finished. The original developer of Kenshi is doing a Dwarf Fortress and plans to keep fleshing out Kenshi for the indefinite future. Unfortunately they're having to port the game over to an entirely seperate engine to continue development, so it's going to be years before there's another update / Kenshi 2.
Haven’t played video games in weeks, but dipping my toe into Outer Wilds. Kind of overwhelming at first, but it’s gotten such high praise that I want to keep going.
That's normal, just take it easy and check out whatever catches your eye. If it's weird or you can't get in, there's always a hint elsewhere and you can just return armed with more knowledge. There's no barren planets, there's no dead ends or wrong way to start untangling it all.
Tyranny
im only like 2 hours in so i don have a real opinion
Workers and Resources : Soviet Republic.
Currently playing modded with prewar stuff added, plus 1938 start date. On an island map because ships are cool.
Just finished baldurs gate 3. It’s my 3rd crpg in a row so I’m taking a break to do some action stuff with dishonored 2 bc I missed it when it came out
A Hat in Time but I'm gonna stop cause this game kinda sucks. The levels are way too cluttered and the game is both too easy and way too confusing. For how much this game got memed I thought it was actually good.
Edit: Also the game is kinda ugly and the sense of humor is way too game dev-y, if you know what I mean. It's like a bunch of forced puns and lol-so-randomness.
I'm about to beat Shadowrun Returns. The combat is fun, but the story is a bit too good vs. bad.
I found Dragonfall to be much better than Returns, can't speak for Hong Kong but I've heard good things.
I was like halfway through Dragonfall before my computer shit the bed. No idea if Steam saved my instance, but I'll probably try booting it up later this year. The story really is better in most regards.
Hong Kong is also better than the base game. I really wish The game had been made like waste land 3 or Kingmaker. This game just really doesn't do the song justice.
I don't know about DFHack, but mods that just add or edit raws should work fine.
Warframe, just waiting for Biomutant to come out on Tuesday
Warframe tickles my buildcrafting brain like no other game does, probably to an unhealthy level tbh
