Hey everyone,
If you're like me, you may have problems reading books in hand...or not having the funds to support the great habit of reading.
So I decided about a week ago to pirate some of the books I've wanted to read but realistically probably wouldn't. I set up a private podcast rss feed to host these books.
There were a few problems I encountered. One was some of the books weren't available. Two was some of the books came in large audio files or broken apart in chapters. As a result, when a book was spread across multiple files I created a "season" for that particular book.
As for the missing pieces, or books you'd like to be included, that is where the Hexbear community can help. I'd love feedback and I can do my best to find the audio files to add to the library. I'm hoping this could potentially help the book club read-along series if need be too.
Please message me if you're interested in the rss feed, I don't want to post it for fear of it tripping some invisible wire that shuts the feed down. But I do want you to share, far and wide, with friends and fellow leftists.
(also note, to suggest/recommended books, use this thread. doing it in PMs it's more likely to be lost)
Thanks, and I look forward to some recommendations.
Edit : just realized how dumb it was to ask for suggestions but you only can see the library if you pm me, so fuck it, here's the feed

I just checked out the feed, really cool work comrade :rat-salute: I would suggest Wretched of the Earth by Fanon if you can find it as well as Trans Liberation beyond pink and blue by Leslie Feinberg and any other book about the LGBT+ struggle.
Thanks, fantastic suggestions.
I was unable to find any audiobook available to download for Trans Liberation. If anyone has it, or a place I can get it, please let me know.
I was able to find Wretched of the Earth, as part of a YouTube playlist, so I'll be bringing that audio down and adding it to the bookclvb.
I do not know if anyone ever made an audiobook of Trans Liberation. If I find one, I'll let you know.
There are a few audiobooks and speeches on Marxists.org : https://www.marxists.org/audiobooks/
Again, you are doing good work. Now all I have to do is share the feed next time someone asks for accessible theory.
Oh that's fantastic, adding a few of those things now. Right now it's been quite a dump of different leftist books - so it's always a WIP on organizing it too.
Posting from above, I think a comrade here made this:

:leslie-feinberg:
I'd be willing to help record audio versions of anything that hasn't been recorded anywhere, though ideally that would be a group undertaking. I have lots of audio editing/speaking/recording experience.
I was talking with OP about adding Trans Liberation by Leslie Feinberg to the feed but we could not find an audiobook. If you could record even some of it that'd be great!
Here is the link to download the book on library genesis: http://libgen.rs/search.php?req=Leslie+Feinberg&column=author
If I’m not mistaken, I think a comrade here made this! Let me know if the link works

That's great thanks comrade!
Hey @gundambigtex someone already did Trans Liberation, you can maybe add it to the feed?
@marxisthayaca if you want to let me know, next time y'all pick a book I can try and see if there's a copy I can put on the feed.
You should check out MAM for audiobooks you don't have, it's a great

I mistyped earlier, I meant to say it's a private tracker, albeit one that's fairly easy to get into (iirc they have interviews on Saturdays UTC, which mostly just involves a quiz to make sure you've read the rules)
If it helps, I think they've got a web based irc client for that now, I definitely didn't have any problems getting it set up a couple years ago it was pretty straightforward
This is great. I have very little time to read (thank you capitalism) but have headphones in all day at work.
