Peru, Chile, Columbia, Bolivia all having simultaneous left wing resurgence is a sight to see. Any others?

Also Lula, a socdem, is looking good for the elections in Brazil (next year I think), which it's the most important prize, literally half the continent, and the most dangerous government rn.

Yeah what's been going on in Brazil the last few years has been pretty horrifying. Really hope Bolsonaro gets whatever horrible fate he deserves.

Didn't Argentina elect a socdem recently

I remember one president's son being a cross dresser and Bolsonaro's son got super mad online about it

Fernandez son is a cosplayer and drag queen, insanely based. His father however... let's not talk about that one.

If the election were today, Lula would be president of Brazil again. So that's something

This reminds me, anyone else have arguments with someone in high school or some other place where you couldn't show your whole political self and they were definitely a fascist but also couldn't show their whole self, so you would have dog-whistle fights that no one present could understand?

I mean the entire movement wasnt. At their peak and before they lost popular support cause of these blind violent acts they were pretty similar to other maoist people's war movements world wide before or after them that didnt just start massacring rural villages cause of suspected fascist sympathisers or whatever and they were gaining rural support at an alarming rate.

I wouldnt be surprised if there was a CIA hand (mostly since it was an open people's war in latin america) but im hesitant to go "everything that sucked in communist revolutions was an op" . Horrible ideological and practical training of these groups inside the shinning path .Overly violent and seeing enemies everywhere. Reactionary leadership that encourgaed such behaviors and double down on "my party did the right thing "instead of denouncing the the groups inside the party that did that or even believed that it was the right thing to do.

I took a gonzaloite class, they really do tend to try to destroy anything they think will corrupt their control over the mass line
