3" an hour, dang. 3-4" per hour was something that occurred multiple times every year when I was a kid. I remember one snowstorm where we got like 7-8 inches an hour for the entire night.

Last year we didn't get any snow. sadness

Same, I remember school getting cancelled because we'd get like a foot or more of snow and you literally could not walk outside. Now we are lucky to get a very light dusting that melts in a few hours. sadness-abysmal

      lake-effect snow

I never heard that term so I checked Wikipedia. That was a mistake. This is far better - there's a big, simple graphic: What is a Lake Effect Snow?

Rant. I love Wikipedia but the editors can be annoying. Many of the most active editors must hate simple graphics or charts, etc at the very top of the page. If a visual aid is there right at the top of the page - a lot of people spend a lot less time reading their edits. Maybe they leave the page nearly right away. The editors want you on the page reading their edits.

I'll never forgive them for undoing the post chapo edits of Dreher's page. The world needs to know his porn habits.

I do not miss it at all

Well, I do miss using the propane torch when things froze over

But that's just because I love fire

You wouldn't use it on the ground, but potentially if a surface like a door froze over (the melted snow would then freeze on the ground, but the door would be freed)

That's the one thing I miss since moving back to Guatemala. The snow was very pretty and I preferred freezing cold because there were so many ways to warm up without going straight to the AC. It gets ungodly hot and you either go underground or take your clothes off as you continue to sweat profusely.
