"Bitcoin will heighten the need for energy and force innovation of more efficient energy sources" is basically tech capitalist version of accelerationism.
Shooting you in the head will incentivize you to develop immortality
Running hospitals, growing food, powering machines that research cures? Nah man, polluting the environment for monopoly money to buy narcotics and sex trafficking with is the best possible use of energy out there.
why are these absolute know-nothing dipshits always so confident in their weird dumbass opinions that they say that "I'll wait" thing every fucking time
They've sharpened their debate skills on reddit on other very smart people.
also on that persons TL: a retweet comparing vaccine passports to Jews being forced to wear Stars of David under the Nazis
genuinely deranged person
update: got into a twitter argument with them where they claimed that the power grid wastes a 1/3 of the energy it transmits. lmao
Yeah what in the actual fuck is that? :jesse-wtf: :jesus-cleanse:
Look at the mass of the Earth. It's all just stranded energy, bro. We need to convert the planet into pure bitcoin and transcend the mortal bounds of central banking. Why no, I've never read a book, why do you ask?
Everyone knows hydroelectric dams were invented and built due to the incentives of Bitcoin
Oil drillers and Bitcoin miners bond over natural gas
The miners are increasingly sending these rigs out to oil fields because it’s one of the cheapest ways to obtain the energy they need. Oil and natural gas come from the same wells, but at these sites, drillers are seeking crude oil and have no pipelines to get the gas to market. That typically forces them to burn it off in a process called flaring - creating carbon dioxide emissions - or to vent it into the atmosphere directly as methane.
"The sweet spot for us is stranded, low volumes of gas that don't justify a pipeline," said Steve Degenfelder, land manager at Wyoming-based producer Kirkwood Oil and Gas LLC, which has formed an alliance with Bitcoin miners.
No. Don't even try to explain any of this shit from a utilitarian perspective. Just know that the market demands people do this.
"look, if we don't burn down the chemical plant, where's the incentive for us to improve chem fire-fighting technologies?"
“Stranded energy” as if the electrical grid across the globe isn’t entirely barely able to keep up with demand for actual useful work.
Imagine being unable to come up with any better use of "stranded energy" than making poker chips for a techbro pyramid scheme.
