This film is super underwhelming. IDK i expected something big from Kubrick's last film. Its not very interesting at all.
Im sorry rich people have an orgy in a mansion? THAT's shocking? Big HP Lovecraft energy "goes insane at the revelation of interracial sex".
Fuck i shoukdn't even spoiler this, the basic facts you know from osmosis about the film are equivalent to the substance of the thing
I mean, what did you want him to do? Have the orgy scenes be overt child sex slavery and murder?
The film is good at lampooning the specific liberal fantasy, the main character is a blue no matter who type that participates in the vile system and is both astounded by its evil and in reaction just walks around like a confused dumbass never doing anything to try and fix it because he knows without it he'd lose what small standing he has.
The main characters are exactly the type of libs we constantly mock on here and Kubrick did a fantastic job making them look like fucking morons.
I feel like every film with sex as a center theme usually suck. It's like that spend so much of the film's funding getting tiddies, that they have none left over for screenwriting.
Yeah I watched it and was surprised how big of a deal some people around here make it out to be. I mean, okay maybe Kubrick was trying to sneakily out some Epstein shit he saw going on in Hollywood, but honestly seem just as likely to me Kubrick and his wife got bored and went to some rich people sex party and realized they kinda hated it, so he made a movie about horny upper middle class people being horny.
Plot twist: The main characters are Bill and Hillary and that line is what made Bill double down on mass incarceration.
Yeah, it's not great. Fucking stoked that Venture Bros is getting a movie to finish things off with.
Just take solace in the fact that Kubrick made Tom Cruise do about a hundred takes for each scene. That's why their performances are so strange and tired.
torturing normal performers :geordi-no:
torturing tom cruise :geordi-yes:
this is the movie that made me realize how minimalist kubrick was, which is probably the reason i keep coming back to his movies. The feeling that i've missed something or didn't absorb it well enough is with me every time the credits roll.
to me, eyes wide shut is a hilarious comedy about a dumbass finding out that his wife has an internal life
the damn thought bubbles where he's like "my wife?! think sex?!" confused face
