Since we had this question about reactionaries this weekend, let's do some self crit this Monday. I hate Mondays.

For me it's anyone who was in any way seriously pro-Tulsi. A military veteran with Hindu nationalist sympathies? Sign me up! Wait, why is she going on PragerU???

Remember: no sectarian fighting.

Well a lot of people thought Destiny was a leftist and then he came out and said that BLM protestors deserved to be shot, so that's one of the most memorable self-owns I know of.

China and the USSR certainly had dogshit foreign policy moments, like the USSR supporting Idi fucking Amin.

The Derg as well. I know a few Eritreans so maybe I have a biased opinion against them

Trotsky breaking with the rest of the Bolsheviks. The guy could have been a top-level Bolshevik for the rest of his life and had a massive impact on the future of the Soviet Union (and still could have just blamed Stalin every time something went wrong) but traded it all for an ice pick to the brain in Mexico.

You could think he was right or wrong, but I think it's unarguably a huge self own.

Stalin would've purged him either way. I feel like that shouldn't be too controversial a take

Depends how early. There was a point towards the end of Lenin's life when Stalin made overtures to Trotsky to take joint command, but Trotsky had to be a giant nerd. I like to think the two would have moderated the worst tendencies of the other.

I was once arguing with a chud who preemptively opened up with the whole "I bet you think real communism hasn't been tried!" thing. No doubt because of the popularity of that argument among western leftists.

When I told them AES is actually cool and good, they asked me to name one example of socialism working. When I named China they literally went full circle, responding "that's not real communism!" Took a while to recover from the whiplash

I've gotten this as well, chuds telling me I'm not allowed to cite Cuba or China as communist projects. It's really fun when they ask if I'm just joking when I defend socialist countries. I'm not.

Actually one time I had a similar experience as yours. Asked to cite a positive example of communism, I say China, asked if I'm joking, I say I'm not. Chud is perplexed and tilts his head and says "But... they're communist." I say yes.

        lmfao

I try to redirect those conversations to get them to say "n-no, that's not real capitalism it's crony capitalism!"

My permanent favorite will be all the 00s media figures who were beloved by a lot of leftists. It's only been in the past few years seems like everyone is realizing just how massively lib they are. Jon Stewart in particular.

Tulsi Gabbard is an Assad toady. She's homophobic and was raised in a wacky Christian cult. She's also Hawaiian, and Hawaiians have this weird cope with being conquered by whites by being super "patriotic" and hanging flags everywhere. It's embarrassing.

I've heard so many times that the fox conn suicide nets are actually fine because its a taiwanese company... even though the factories are in china. that's the worst argument ive ever heard, who gives a shit where it's based, the actual location with the problem is china

if you actually want to say its not a big deal, you can point out the suicide rate in china is lower than in america. or that in america they had to fight for years to put in suicide nets / higher railings around the golden gate bridge because the iconic view was more important than human lives

i want to say racism but i think leftists (specifically white male leftists) become the most cringe when they replicate the edgy reddit 4 chan aggressive sexist shit, particularly towards liberal women.

it just feels like they always have unresolved issues with their suburban helicopter mom but they happen to also be 37
