Maybe that's what they mean.
"Trudeau, the western embargo on Cuba is akin to genocide. It must end."
For some reason I highly doubt that, probably the "Diaz Canel is a dictator" sign and maga hats
nah China was doing that one first
it was the wiggas, not the Uyghas
As far as I understand it, Cuba is being accused of genocide for... not doing enough to stop COVID? Which coming from America is fucking rich. EDIT: I genuinely do not know what is happening in Cuba right now. This is just what I gather from online conversations.
The US is basically at the weakest it has been since the turn of the 20th. It might be desperate lashing out, or it might just be the automatic systems in place stirring something up because that's the schedule since time immemorial.
In either case, if the US actually tries to attempt something in Cuba, I firmly believe we will be seeing the implosion of the core shortly thereafter. I could legitimately see China gaining NATO backing in intervening on us and suddenly we're actually the bad guys in the narrative.
We're no longer the economic powerhouse of the world. If the place that is, i.e. China, makes a move that is drastically different than the one we are making in the US, then something will change very quickly in the balance of powers is my point.
I believe an actual attempt at Cuba by the US would be enough to initiate such a thing, though I could be wrong. This is not so different than the fears of the cold war with the soviets, however, the balance of power was quite different then.
EU then , which is the same thing minus the US lol, either way if the US and China butt heads I do not think the US has the economic or military strength to be the one even capitalist ghouls go for at this point
I actually agree with you. The EU capitalists are leaning China, they want a cooperative relationship and see it as something that won't threaten them in the short-term. They aren't looking towards stopping socialism forever they're looking at whether it will hurt them in their lifetimes.
If they won't be hurt in their lifetime, they don't care to oppose them especially if they're currently gaining a lot by cooperating.
yeah I don't think I'm being optimistic about it. I'm just looking at the reality , China is just the horse to bet on at the moment. They provide more and are way the fuck less annoying to deal with than constantly running PR for the US making massive military and economic mistakes around the world.
The only reason this isn't the case now is because the status quo hasn't been upset, but if the two collide i think that'd be the catalyst
My main worry here is that the EU capitalists are counting on a conflict between the US and China as the game changer. They want to siege up, play nice, prepare themselves and wait for a change in circumstances.
The US might be used as a last ditch destructive bomb to wreck China while sacrificing the US just to beat back socialism again. They'll call it a tragedy that the US was taken over by fascism and caused such horrible nuclear war to happen but unavoidable, and let them do it.
Yeah I agree that is the other option. I'm speculating under the idea that nuclear war isn't even a potential option, as it'd absolutely demolish most wealth to consolidate.
The fact that we're talking about the US potentially invading Cuba and nuclear apocalypses again is something to think about, and the fucking insane feeling that brings.
This is going to happen everytime capitalism nears an endgame scenario where it might actually lose.
Every capitalist country needs no-first-strike built into their constitution or laws if they have a nuclear arsenal. It would avoid this problem. Well, except for the scenario where there's a fascist in charge that will ignore said law.
Not sure that China would do anything about the US causing havoc in the Caribbean, it doesn’t really affect them and they seem content to let the US make its own mistakes.
China should throw their dick around if the US starts making any moves towards Cuba, just as the US does all the time with China and Taiwan.
Amerikkka has ships, carriers, airplanes, hell, even bases - all around the South China Sea just about 365 days out of the year.
Could you imagine China sends one warship to the Caribbean for a couple of days until the US backs down? They'd all be calling it an outrageous act of aggression.
Tbh, I won't be getting my hopes up too much about China backing Cuba. They are almost non-interventionist to a fault.
I actually did not know this and would love to read more about it!
Super hard to find sources right now, but Cuban-chinese relations have been happening for a long time. They had a hiatus during the soviet-signo split but since the 90's they've been providing each other with resources.
There's also a lot of interesting cultural exchanges between Cuba and China.
Thanks comrade, I don’t know too much about Cuba and less about China so l’ll look into it more. Hopefully I can find some good source in Spanish or something. :fidel-salute:
Just google around and avoid big spooky headlines and it'll be fine. I wish I could provide more but I'm half in the bag and working on an article in the other tab.
Covid has intensified the economic problems plus their time may be running out. It's not going to get easier for them if the left's standing in LatAm improves which seems likely.
Fucking Canadians continue to throw around that word as they are digging up thousands of dead children.
Fucking worms.
Wow, they went from "Protest of a few thousand people" to "literally genocide" in like 48 hours.
shh don't think just consoom newsfeed
consoom news and get excited for next news
Agreed, the genocidal American empire must pay for their crimes against the peaceful state of Cuba and her liberated peoples.
Funny they go with that line too as if Canada has ever cared about stopping a genocide lol
Pretty wild to bring this up in a country that’s unearthing fresh mass graves every week
And also not doing anything about it. Like “oh damn that’s crazy! Anyway, let’s go back to being the worst kind of French”
Are they doing the China playbook again? Are we gonna start seeing satellite pictures of chicken farms and digging up birth statistics? Waiting for the point when Marco Rubio wipes the crocodile tears from his face in front of the house foreign affairs committee.
trudeau's dad made canada one of Cuba's best clients in their tourism industry
hopefully that relationship doesn't get fucked
Doubtful. They're a decently big trade partner, and our go-to for when Canada needs to give a largely inconsequential fuck you to the US. Despite the protest they're really not considered an enemy here. The worst I've ever heard from someone about Cuba is that she went on a vacation with the "real" people and they're suffering, but not in the viscerally anti-communist way, just a typical first world tourist trying to make themselves feel good by feeling sympathy towards a generalized third world (I know, Cuba is literally not third world, but that was the vibe).
People always compare Cuba to really wealthy industrialised countries to criticize it. No one ever seriously compares it to Cuba under Batista, Haiti or Columbia even though those are the similar societies
It was a genocide of plantation owners. Why don't people ever think of them??
Every socialist country is doing a genocide didn't you know?
Honestly I like this. It makes them look ridiculous and will only help as we build up more and more evidence online over time. The internet won't forget and we're in a new age of information this time. It'll be real hard to make people forget the accumulating pile of bullshit they're building. Eventually they will drown themselves in it.
