it is fun because if capital was logical the short term deficit is obviously less damaging the long term damage of the disease like china literally showed that by being the first to do the lock down and doing it well enough to stop transmission they got to be the first to have it's economy back

Wuhan was having outdoor pool parties last year and the USA was like oh yeah we can do that too! Oops, super spreader situation at Joe's MISSION ACCOMPLISHED event in DC.

like it could be worse you could be here in brazil where the government actually delayed buying the vaccines because every single person in the government commited crimes trying to take a share of the vaccines sales by buying overpriced vaccines and NOTHING WILL BE DONE ABOUT THIS

it is really funny how much bolsonaro still tries to take the i am anti corruption stance while being comically connected to crime and corruption like it is trumps mafia connection but 1000 times more criminal

The thing about capital is most of our is based on cash flow. Most companies and I'm sure plenty of Uber rich barely have enough cash to keep themselves afloat with or cash flow.

It's so funny because I remember when the vaccines were first being rolled out it was touted as an extra layer of protection on top of your mask, social distancing, lockdowns (lol), hand washing etc. Then like a month later the CDC was like nah, just get your vaccine then go back out and party! Now everyone is totally shocked how massive 4th of july celebrations were a super spreader event.

The covid response has really been a great reremovedtion of any right libertarian ideology.
Vaccine hesitancy is one of the largest externalities right now. Those that dont get a vaccine benefit from herd immunity (if we would ever achieve it), and have so much to gain from increased vaccination rates. They reap these benefits from others getting the shot, without having to get it themselves. A classic free rider example.
But worse than that, we see that there will very likely be an escape variant, eventually making all of this effort pointless entirely.

I checked on some libertarian forums to see how they would handle vaccines as an obvious and deadly externality, but of course they've entirely bought their own lies. "Vaccines are a personal decision, im worried about the government forcing me to get a shot, etc". Literally nothing about these extremely obvious problems we will face.

This great strategy is also the one the Dutch have. And it's even worse because we always lag two weeks behind Brittain. And they again and again act surprised when we literally make the same mistakes and have the same outcomes.

Don't worry, we won't be behind the abominable Anglos for long!

If instead of not learning we just don't act at all we'll be number one in no time!

It's the same strategy every other capitalist country also has, there are some outliers but most are doing the same thing. Differences only lie in how vulnerable people were, how many hospitals and doctors per person there were. How many commorbidities each person has on average or whether they can afford a sick day or two in order to make sure they're not arriving contagious at work, but locking down until too late is a constant. The only thing capitalism can do is damage control, it's always doing damage control.

We'll just not talk about incidence anymore, that'll fix the problem. Let's just talk deaths and nothing else

Witnessing liberal politicians unironically adopting the fascists' proposed strategy of last year in real time; spooky shit

Honestly, you can't lockdown forever. The social consequences, let alone the economic ones, of lockdown will prove to be severe. I don't know what the solution is but quarantine for months/years on end is not only unsustainable especially given our current economic model but extremely damaging to the public psyche.

Yes, the haphazard way they've carried out the lockdowns is mostly to blame. Yes, capitalism is to blame. I just don't think lockdowns are a viable solution from here on out. Either ways we're heading towards fascism.

You don't know what the solution is? The solution is a real lockdown for a few weeks / months at most. The reason """lockdown""" has lasted so long is because there was never an actual lockdown to begin with. They said "pretty please, if you don't want people to die, dont come outside" and every chud in the country was like "FUCK YEAH I LOVE PEOPLE DYING" and immediately went partying

      what quarantine/lockdown? lol

Things have basically been Business As Usual since last summer, except you're supposed to wear a mask but huge numbers of people don't anyway

That is also my strategy to not collapse into complete doomerism and continue on in any capacity.
