The United States on Thursday urged U.S. citizens to leave Afghanistan immediately using available commercial flight options, a notice on the website of U.S. Embassy in Kabul said

Lmao this is amazing. Legit only got notified by some banner or whatever at the top of a website that said you're on your own to find a way to gtfo. Good luck! They couldn't have picked a more half-assed way to do it

well in 2019 the Taliban were only active in a few rural strongholds, probably around 25% of the country by land. They've been in negotiations for awhile until recently, and now it seems they have been building their strength to take advantage of the US withdraw. But the pass few weeks have seen them make very impressive gains, so much they might just outright overthrow the government instead of being forced into some power sharing scheme. It shows how important American involvement was in propping up the regime, 20 years of occupation and "nation-building" and the government isn't going to last three months lol

      Taliban on that sigma grindset

edit: looking more into it, it seems the governor of Ghazni just handed the city (and all the weapons and ammunition within) over to the Taliban in exchange for safe passage out of the city to Kabul. The governor has since been arrested by pro-govt forces on the road into Kabul. Its not looking good for the government at all if their governors are just surrendering whole cities.

Holy shit, feels like ISIS 2.0, just steamrolling whoever stood in their way. The Taliban are insane fighters, true masters of guerrilla warfare. They know they can't take on the US military head on so they waited, years and years, bled them out bit by bit and when the time comes they leave their hideouts to literally capture entire towns in mere days. The ANA feels like the Iraqi Army as ISIS popped out, so far they appear completely incapable of stopping the Taliban (let alone beating them) and things gets worse as some of their soldiers and officers literally drop their arms and defect to the Taliban.

So given the news that we're deploying 3000 more troops to Afghanistan, what are the odds that all this "pulling out of Afghanistan" hullabaloo is just to cover up the fact that we're losing, despite our continued efforts?
