Liberals genuinely believe bourgeois democracy is as good as it gets. Therefore, anybody who seeks to undermine the status quo, no matter their intentions, is a reactionary. This is most obvious when the subject of third party voting comes up, but can also be seen when Liberals say shit like "'defund the police' nearly cost us the election."
People shit on the book, much of it deservingly, but Settlers is good at showcasing what happens when you accept the alienation of some part of the working class for the sake of "the majority". Spoiler alert: it's not socialism.
I mean, I'm sure people shit on it for not being written by a trained academic, but I've been reading it and it's pretty good. Sakai does a good job showing that race is constructed as a contradiction to enforce class oppression and it works super well and has poisoned most organizing in the u.s.

*they signed non-aggression pacts. They also did much worse shit, like refusing to ally with the USSR against the Nazis, deliberately allowing Germany to rebuild their military, gladly handing them Czechoslovakia, etc.
My favorite is when people feign outrage over the USSR entering Poland after their government collapsed. Like bitch, for what Poland did to Czechoslovakia, they're lucky the USSR didn't fucking absorb their territory in its entirety after the war. Fucking nazi simps.

Nevermind that the Soviet Union materially supported a majority, if not all, anti-colonial and anti-imperialist struggles waged by POC across the globe. The Soviets were present to be called upon to support any echo of the Haitian Slave Rebellion or peasant revolt across the global south, from Vietnam, to Indonesia, to the Philippines, Cuba, Indonesia, Chile, Bolivia, Guatamala, Grenada, and Burkina Faso.
Nevermind that the Soviet Union immediately granted voting rights to women and for its entire existence had women take up 50% of STEM graduates and maintained for all 70 years (1917-1991) a massively higher ratio of women in government (and STEM jobs) than the United States today. That and paid maternity+paternity leave, child benefit programs, and national daycare facilities for countries in the Union.
And nevermind that the GDR that was the first country that offered gender affirmation surgeries (and even did so for free), or the fact that all Soviet nations have maintained powerful caucuses of LGBT activists in their governments.
Or that the women of the Soviet Union wielded so much bodily autonomy that the Union literally used free, safe medical abortion as a preferred birth control method from the 1920s, all the way to 1991, just because Soviet women didn't like the side effects and daily chore of taking of the birth control pill.

I really dont get where people are getting all these ideas about tankie if not just out their asses. I keep hearing about pro-Taliban, anti-feminist, pro-Trump, racist tankies that are just everywhere and so when confronted with a demand for some proof you needn't provide it as it should just be obvious. Typically claims like this about MLs and tankies usually have a basis in miscontrued or purposefully obtuse reads of some statement from 80+ years ago, but this latest crop just seems totally disconnected and apropos nothing.
