I was in country when the SEALs killed bin laden. 9/11 shaped a large portion of my life. I lost a lot friends in the war that followed. And I still wonder…. “What would the wizarding world do? How did they react? Did some of the American witches and wizards join the military? It can't be so. All wizards are English and have a posh accent. This can be proven by the part where Hermione is lecturing her friends about how "it's levioh-sah not leviosah". What she is really getting at, is that if you have an accent, or English isn't your first language, the spells will not work.
My wife used to be really into harry potter and I asked what the lore about pronunciation of spells was. I don't think there is any outside of Hermione being a pedant.
