Gladiator. It's incredibly stupid from any historical perspective, getting exactly 1 fact correct. But it is fun action and cool set pieces.

Yeah it's basically just a fantasy movie inspired by ancient rome, and it's fun.

Commodus was the son of Marcus Aurelius and inherited imperium(the office/position of emperor, literally the power of the Roman state) from him. He was one of two or three emperors "born in the purple," meaning his father was emperor when he was born and he became emperor.

John Wick is probably my favourite in that regard, it's so simple and cathartic. Likewise, I haven't seen Mad Max Fury Road mentioned but that's also up there in a similar vein: it's basically just one long chase movie

War of the arrows is a Korean action movie, free on YouTube too.

The blackout seems like a cool Russian action movie too

Ajeossi also slaps. It's like korean John wick

Train to Busan is also a classic.

Steel rain is a surprisingly balanced take on the dprk/rok geopolitics where the north military attempts to assassinate Jong-Un and a loyal special forces agent saves his life by taking him down south while stopping assassins from giving the military coup "reason to retaliate" and invade the south. It shits on America and Japan and presents a patriotic Korean unity in trying and reunite the country on Korean terms and nobody elses.

The Admiral: Roaring Currents is a medieval Korean movie highlighting one of the greatest admirals in Korean history who single-handedly smashed one of the Japanese invasion attempts.

The good, the bad, and the weird is a Korean action-comedy taking place in Manchuria during the 20th century, after Japan invaded and annexed Korea. And it's a story talking about three people who learned there's a gigantic resource deposit at a certain place and whoever gets there first can claim all the wealth for themselves or their representative country.

I like watching old Arnold movies for the gay subtext. My boomer step dad used to watch them and now I see why he was so against gays getting married growing up.

Hardcore Henry. If your boomer dad can get over the somewhat unusual POV all the gaming references are gonna fly right over his head and then it's just a parade of good ol' boys

Is that the Italian Job with Tom Cruise? Is it worth watching?

The original one was great, it ends on a literal cliffhanger.

The old conan movie holds up surprisingly well I think.

The Salute of the Jugger It is a cult classic and a larp version of the sport has emerged in australia and it is rad.

I think netflix has the 36 chambers of the shaolin right now. It's rad and it inspired the wu tang clang. Similar they had the warriors but I think it isn't up right now.

Oh, if they got rainbow warriors still up thats rad. It is a turn of thr century joint set in classic maori times. They use the tradional weapons and all that. It is super well shot and interesting.
