Chappelle bragged about being "cancelled" because of some negative tweets he got and people saying they're done with him. Its like motherfucker, you gained fans from this and said an opinion that over 100 million Americans agree with or at least DGAF.

I still think the only person to ever get "cancelled" is Colin Kaepernick. Dave will be fine and still adored as a comedian.

I remember a lot of communists getting canceled during the red scare and McCarthyism of the 1950s….

True. I guess I should've qualified my last statement with "during the era of 'cancel culture'". I feel like canceling became a term/thing people use in the last 5 years.

The Dixie Chicks were not much spoken of in the 2000s after Natalie Maines spoke out about Bush. They managed a comeback years later but were kinda out during some of their prime years.

Bill Maher was literally canceled but then ended up on HBO so that's a wash.

The Dixie Chicks were at the height of their careers and one of the top acts in the world. Overnight, you’d be hard pressed to find a single radio station that would play them. Their comeback during the Trump years was basically riding the culture war for a comeback, but the original cancellation was legit a massive push from those in power to silence them

I had no idea who they were prior to the Bush thing. I'm also in Canada where we got to spend the Iraq war feeling really superior to Americans, so I think they actually got more airplay here afterwards.

Celebrities and MSM do plenty to hype up "cancel culture" despite the fact that most of the time these "cancelled" celebrities stay and sometimes become more relevant. I fucking hate having to constantly hear about celebrities who whine about cancel culture.

Nah, dozens of people have been cancelled and had their entire careers ruined for merely criticizing the zionist regime.

TBh, lots of people start disappearing from the mainstream when they start to get too radical, Kaepernick, Thunberg, Malala, the more radical teenagers from Parkland (some of them were abolitionists, bet you didn't know).
