My time is cut down now that I'm employed. As much as I like to post at work, it's a kitchen. And my posts and comments are all fucking gold, so yknow.

This one is a joke work wise and I'm being treated half decent. Good enough. Kitchen manager works more hours than anyone and covers other people's time off, which he is happy to give, the place actually has a stupid amount of dudes on staff compared to anywhere. We have like eight on where most would have three. So I guess we have a good labor budget, I successfully negotiated with wages and he even apologized for low balling me after I made my case. It's also in a building that is one house distance walk from my house. My home wifi reaches my work. So it's not bad. Also it's a pizza place (though a high quality one, house made noodles and dough, wood fire oven etc) The manager also worked with two previous co workers of mine who I'm still friends with and they said he's a good dude and a bit of a doormat. It's not a bad gig

My last job was still a lot better and the year and a half of getting free money from the government because covid happened was better but hey.

I'm still being super openly leftist except we have a decent amount of foreign students working who are usually from the super rich of where they're from and I've got a Phillipino dude who seems like a reactionary and a South Korean guy who is awesome but who knows where he stands and foreign policy is usually the safest radicalization stater and now that's a bit of minefield.

As someone from the global south, yeah the people that can afford to end up going to the US are usually pretty reactionary. I call it the gusano effect.

But not always though. There's some cool people that go over as well

I just want to be able to figure it out, or at least get an on the ground opinion without seeming like a prick. We have a lot of foreign students that come here and a lot of immigrant workers so I'm hyper aware that a lot of those workers usually just wanna not ruffle feathers and send money home as well. Also white co workers barrage them with questions about where they're from and all that constantly. These people never do that to their white co workers, so I try to get to know people before I ask about their home country let alone bring my opinions up.

Edit: Canada but same deal. Just don't wanna be mistaken for great Satan, more like great white demon

Yeah Canada has been running lots of very suspicious immigration programs in Africa. Think it has something to do with all the mines they have here, try to build a closer relationship between the countries they're doing imperialism in.

And yeah I can see how people straight up asking "where you from" can get annoying.

One complement I have to give the Canadian left over the Americans is we ignore our foreign policy in favour of decolonization, that is like the MAIN left issue here

Didn't know about African immigration programs but if I had to guess that's probably more of a thing out west. I'm in a town with 4 colleges and there has to be some kind of something regarding the Phillipines in the same way, every kitchen here for the most part had overworked Phillipinoes.

East coast of Canada is basically Detroit/Appalachiawith a new england accent and new england colleges in the three cities which are about am 8-10 hour drive from each other.

Kinda ashamed but also proud that I'm on the list. For clarification - I have a total of 784 posts (22nd) and 3556 comments (84th) across my alts.

Also, 1.5% of all users (250ish) make more than 50% of the comments and 60% of all the posts. We're a smaller community than that 17k number suggests.

I think this is actually pretty normal. on reddit only 10% of users ever post I think. Most subs with < ~50,000 have a couple of recognizable posters who account for 50 or more percent of the posts.
