I will start. I was scrolling through Tiktok when I saw a video where someone claimed you couldn’t be a communist/ socialist because you are a waged laborer in a capitalist system.
I had someone earnestly say that the Batista regime in Cuba was pro LGBTQ because there were underaged male sex workers there. I'm fairly sure my brain literally did the Xbox 360 red ring of death in response.
Oh ya that makes total sense if you iron out the winkles in your brain.
Damn I had no idea ancient Sparta was so pro-LGBTQ, I guess I've been owned now.
My dad thinks that black people have "crime genes" in their DNA.
have you ever asked any follow up questions because I have several
"You see all that tax money that goes to overpriced military projects and government contractors and impractical buildings? That shows that our government is incompetent at spending its tax dollars. Still think socialism is good?"
-From one of my brothers
Damn, is he the fabled socialism understander? Because that’s basically what socialism is, when the government does stuff.
We should remove our current public healthcare system and move into a more American model where you get healthcare from your job.
-My brother.
We don't talk anymore.
Marx paints with "too broad a brush" because a shoemaker can be poor. Wanting a revolution is bad because mentally ill and disabled people will die. If people got free food they would never work. If you don't have any political beliefs outside your party you're insane. Every possible take you could ever hear about black people, including them buying up all the good property and making it bad. Gentrification is good. Everyone should give up on politics because it makes them upset. I'm not going to share the ones I've heard from children because it makes sense their ideology is mush, but I've heard some doozies. The most reason one that takes the cake is as follows:
"I can epimistologically disprove queer theory!"- a white cis man who styles himself a stoic philosopher but had never heard of Qualia before.
An old roommate of mine thought that black people "should be thankful for police, because that's who shows up to handle domestic violence calls."
He was, without exaggeration, one of the stupidest people I've ever met.
A few days ago a read a Nate Cohn tweet that's been "playing" like a terrible earworm stuck in my head. For me it's the lib mindset in a nutshell...
I think it's totally reasonable to argue that campaigns shouldn't embrace ideas before they are popular. It is not realistic to argue that activists shouldn't advocate for ideas before they're popular.
