First of all, they REJECT the labels absolutely.

Second of all, you don’t even need to be politically literate to understand that they’re not socialist. And no, it’s not because “marx’s theories are outdated and socialism has been updated.” ITS BASIC FUCKING HISTORY.

The US had several fucking nukes pointed at the USSR. Multiple times the world almost ended because of ideological conflicts. Latin American and Asia were invaded, interfered with, and openly and proudly.

So why the FUCK would the US be allies with socialist countries now? Why would they share intelligence with Canadians if they’re socialist? Despite trading heavily with China, the US still have nukes pointed at their country. They have soldiers stationed near their borders. Why isn’t the Canadian-US border heavily militarized? Why aren’t there nuclear submarines patrolling near their waters?

YOU IDIOT

ITS NOT SOCIALIST

THATS WHY

The war was one of the most prominent Cold War proxy wars, with UNITA receiving military aid initially from People's Republic of China from 1966 until October 1975 and later from the United States and apartheid South Africa while the MPLA received support from the Soviet Union and its allies, especially Cuba.

        Sine-Soviet split moment.

It's true, in Denmark workers controls the full value of their labour and all trade is done on fair equal terms.

Just don't look at Greenland or anything, or you might get "reasonable" Danes to conclude that the Inuit people are Untermensch and their social problems are because they are simply not as smart as us.

Might? Common sense about Greenlanders here has been some "white man's burden" shit about them being childlike and helpless alcoholics for as long as I can remember.

For a bunch of holier-than-thou liberals when it comes to American racism against black people, we sure are good at doing it ourselves, and seeing litterally no problem with it.

They only sent 200 soldiers for the middle eastern wars. Not that much. Definitely not as bad. :so-true: . Also, they definitely didn't release an order saying that the makeup of a town in Denmark shouldn't have more than 30% of non Danish people.

This assumes that people know that the USSR hatred was ideological rather than "we have to stop the bad people and save democracy".

USSR was a bad socialist government.

Denmark is a good socialist government.

It doesn't help that Bernie and AOC and the likes tend to do it. To use a debate bro term, they use a motte-and-bailey tactic in which they put forth some vision of socialism but when engaged critically, they retreat to a simpler position ("we just want socialism like Sweden has", etc.)

There’s always been a faction of liberalism that’s attempted to appropriate the term ‘socialist’ for their own myopic ends

People who try to justify the existence of capitalism sometimes think a moldy carrot that slowly poisons a national labor movement is better then a CIA stick

Also, they still have a monarchy too.

Radlibs(politicians or not) love calling themselves and other white countries with half decent social safety net as "socialist". Always funny remembering a certain politician say "socialism like in the UK" in an interview. A mixture of lack of theoretical knowledge, western chauvinism and racism lead to this.

Also, for those saying China have a capitalist mode of production right now. I agree. But they have the CPC to control over nearly every business in the country. What similar thing does those nordic countries have right now?

As a Canadian, I hate when people say we have "universal healthcare," when we still have to pay out of pocket for prescriptions, dental care, most mental health services, and optometry, unless you have employer insurance.

With the state of care in the US, it might as well be Universal.

My employer insurance covered a physical, but refused to cover the meeting to talk about blood test results.

Unless we define what a socialist state is, it isn't going to be possible to say what is or is not a socialist state.

Also the United States has worked with socialist states before.

Sino-Soviet split shit isn't anything other than opportunism on the part of the US, and they never stopped pointing the regime change gun at China, even when they were supposedly aligned.

i don’t understand the difference between say Sweden and China past the aesthetic level. How is China more socialist than Sweden / Sweden more capitalist than China?

Obviously neither are currently socialist but what about the Nordic countries is worse from the perspective of workers in the country. Obviously imperialism / looting of the 3rd world exists

China's government holds the reins over the domestic bourgeoisie; their interests are only partly aligned and the state will slap down individuals and entire industries that act counter to the government's interests. c.f. Jack Ma, cram schools etc.

The Nordics are ultimately dictatorships of the bourgeoisie; the interests of business and always present and paramount no matter how the people vote in elections. The state in the Nordic countries acts to mediate frictions between the workers and capital on behalf of capital.

These differences are why the Nordic states social safety nets are slowly eroding/being farmed out and the Chinese state is tackling the Three Mountains.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say far fewer people in Denmark, or any country, have the kind of knowledge of Marxist theory that Chinese citizens have because of their education.

In Denmark the general knowledge of Marxist theory can be summarised as:

        1. Marxism = communism = bad Stalin 100 billion dead Venezuela iPhone
        2. Marxism "failed" and was "proven wrong" when the Berlin wall fell
        3. Marxism is obsolete because social democracy is much better as can be seen from it working flawlessly here and we're the best country on earth. The entire world could be just like Denmark if just everyone were as smart as we are.

          Same shit in Norway.

At the very least, China has a stated goal of transitioning to socialism/communism, which is certainly not the case for any of the Scandinavian countries. I suppose it's possible that every single one of the 95+ million members of the CPC are just lying opportunists and none of them are actually committed communists, but is it likely though? I'm gonna say probably not.
