You're joking but way back when I loved the old Underhive mod with its insanely fiddly mechanics (building 8 separate parts in 3 workshops to build 1 gun and then master the entirely unexplained alchemy system to produce gunpowder, only to send my gangers on a suicide bayonet charge because a raid comes before I can get primer) made by like 3 guys who didn't talk to each other and finished by the pixel artist

Much later I played a remake by a highly competent modder/binary hacker that was very elegant and streamlined and boring to me.

Shame we can't gatekeep Linux from normies. But then again, that's the beauty of Linux. You CAN'T gatekeep it as it's open for anyone!

I think it's because the people in control of implementing this shit are the target audience of NFT shit. All these tech bro CEOs who want to prop up their investments forever by forcing them to stay relevant

the only place where theres still money is the gambling halls of the super rich: stocks and art; and the only way to extract a thin sliver of it is to scam

If ANYTHING should be described as de-generacy, it should be NFTs instead of two consenting adult individuals doing the funky chicken together. Rich people hedonism at its finest.

literally what the fuck is the point of any of this

As Justin Roczniak pointed out on an episode of WTYP - crypto, blockchain, and NFTs are all ways for people to turn LABOR + NATURAL RESOURCES into an abstraction of an abstraction, and then trade its value. Some poor miner in Africa making $1 a week digs cobalt from the ground, which is shipped to China where it's converted into a GPU, then shuffled off to Australia where it sits in a server farm crunching numbers, burning energy from a dam on an Aboriginal river, in order to validate the financial system.

The important part is: if you acknowledge that these "fake virtual things" have value, you are also accepting the entire capitalist system of land ownership, along with the global north's entitlement to the labor of the peasantry and proletariat of the global south, and the moral ability - necessity, even - for capitalism to use up all of earth's energy resources for short-term profits.

That's the point. The point is profit. NFTs are capitalism in its purest form - a rich white man tells you that this picture of a "Horny Star Fox" is more valuable than the lives of every child in Bangladesh. And you must agree. Capitalists control the banks, the money, everything. You must agree. Even if you don't agree, it doesn't matter. What matters is that they control you. That's the point.

Anyone can download and play the game but if you send the company a million dollars they'll send you a letter saying it's actually your game and you're a very special boy.

Gamergate would throw a fit if they ever heard about Bully: Scholarship edition.

      • The main character bi. The whole point of the game is to get bullies to stop picking on other students by giving them a taste of their own medicine, so Jimmy is an "SJW protagonist". Bonus points because one of the enemies is a clique called "the preps" which Jimmy refers to as "inbred rich losers."

      • The main villain, Gary. Isn't initially the most popular kid or anything, but is a card-carrying sociopath that talks almost identically to every twitter normie.

      • One mission has you punish a pea-dough gym teacher, a group normies would call "just a red-blooded male".

      • A lot of jimmies quotes are pretty based. Sure, he makes a few "ur gay lol" jokes to the chads, but him being bi kinda cushions it.

honestly i thought we had already done dotcom 2.0 when companies were adding "blockchain" to their name to double their stock value, but why not, let's go again, the market isn't getting any more rational
