Was watching Bluey and was happy it seemed entirely free from cop or troop propaganda. Then they devote an entire episode to a kid who plays soldier because his dad is away (and it ends with his dad coming home from duty or whatever, hug and all).
Yeah, Bluey is mostly good and wholesome but they've got one or two eps that are pretty lib. The Circus ep comes to mind.

the more that vast swamps of media content are freely available, the worse off poor kids (and tech illiterate adults) will be.
And then your kids might get bullied for not watching if you do manage to keep them from it.

But I also wouldn't want to be that guy or have my kids be excluded. And that doesn't even touch how all the other kids will be on tiktok/YouTube/insta and my kid would be weird for not doing that.
Raising a kid seems especially hard nowadays because there's no real agreed upon way to handle the dopamine that is social media. Although maybe I'm just overthinking it because I remember my parents being scared of me playing violent video games (FPSs like COD) which weren't really more harmful than kids playing Mario but should probably be limited so they play with IRL toys that teach motor skills and whatnot.
I'm just going to raise kids off the grid if I have them. Being gay means that shit won't happen by accident.

Its politics aren't super great given how it talks about the CCP but: there's a great movie called "Captain Fantastic" I highly recommend checking out for anyone who's interested in doing this. Raising your children off the grid and/or outside of "the matrix" has its positives and it shows how independent, capable, and educated they are in so many ways...but also it has its limits are there development as human beings. I was home schooled for a period of time and I know personally just how detrimental it can be at formative ages to building friendships and relationships.

That's the conundrum...on the one hand even as I guy raised on games I actually do think youtubers and videogames are bad, rot your brain, and the world would be better off if they were abolished...but on the flipside to an extent having your kids not engage in videogames and social media actually makes them the odd one out and impacts their socialization. Really as leftists that's true of most things we deal with. I have a first grader and had to figure out how to address some of his Veterans day assignments recently.
