Now, there are some exceptions, like that guy remaking the Titanic. I can believe he's a person, albeit an inherently evil person. While I wouldn't do exactly that if money was no issue at all, what I would do is in the spirit of that.

They are literally building spacecraft so they can yeet their excess money into low earth orbit.

      No, they aren't.

Bezos and Musk are spending taxpayer money and investor money.

It's a good grift, don't get me wrong. But you can't honestly tell me the commodification of void is driven by "rational" forces. It's a vanity project.

Elon Musk's Twitter posting is one of the greatest arguments for wealth appropriation. He should be doing the special kind of fentanyl that doesn't kill you that only the rich have access to, but instead he's spending his free time being the worst kind of Redditor. Just a complete waste.

Jack Ma made that short where he fought a bunch of kung fu masters like Donnie Yen and Jet Li. It's self aggrandizing bullshit, but it is the kinda idea some stoner would come up with imagining what they'd do if they were a billionaire.

They do spend it on dumb shit like yachts and giant estates and fancy horse drawn carriages

They just have so much they can’t possibly spend it all

Like of the top of my head I'm thinking Jon McAfee trying to take over a country by himself to do super research drugs or alternatively the saudis doing skiing halls in the desert, line city or making new island just for the hell of it, what else is there?

I don't think gold plated food or big boat are really that stupid and ridiciolously expensive compared to the dumb shit you could do.That's basically jet ski dealership millionaire but cranked up to 11.

A big boat isn't ridiculous. They could pay to have a fleet of trained whales. It is just a bigger version of what normal shitty person would do.

Like, we know wlon musk goes to weird swinger parties, but plenty of us here do that. He could pay to have a porn company re-create the indiana jones golden idol scene but with his dick and he does not. Full on marvel level vfx with in camera effects and real sets.

Good people would use that money to feed and house the homeless, cure diseases and end wars.

These people just use treat it like a score in a video game. Jealously and childishly. They aren't people IMO. At least, not the kind of people deserving of the power they have.

      1. If I remember correctly - that's twice what he paid for the Washington Post.

I guess it's only a matter of time before another perversely wealthy turd drops a billion on a fucking boat. Boys and their toys.

They don't spend their money on frivolous things because what they want is to feel like a God. They don't have normal human desires like the rest of us. They're glass eyed freaks who have only cared about securing power their entire lives.

I guess once you pass a certain threshold of wealth you stop doing standard frivolous rich person things like Nic Cage buying dinosaur skulls and castles (and getting into massive debt)

The Titanic guy is a huge piece of shit. However one positive note is that he had a legal claim of damages equivalent to the entire annual budget of Western Australia, and when he threatened to sue that government they passed a law banning him from suing them.

The Queensland government (another state) is also seeking a court order to have him declared as a property developer which will ban him from any political donations in their elections.
