QB with cig on left lost that game. QB on the right won his game.
Hard times create losers I guess
Wait even in the context of this tweet it makes it seem that the second QB is having a hard time so he’s the strong one
Is funny because sports psychology has been a thing in professional sports for a while now. They make the players read philosophy books and try to coach them on how to get into the right mental state. Mental state is actually a big deal when it comes to peak physical performance. None of this is for altruistic reasons but about winning.
Also checking a players cognition and mood during games can probably help spot signs of injury. Entire reason coaches and owners started giving a fk about all the brain damage and stroking out is losing an investment. Everything from heat stroke to brain injury often comes with behavioral symptoms like confusion. Spot that shit immediately by doing basic neurological assessments, you can treat a player soon enough that you might not lose your investment.
In addition to spotting signs of internal physical injuries or degraded performance... mfkers, spotting signs that a player has deteriorating mental health and intervening also protects the investment. If they attempt suicide, successful or not, that's a problem. If they become emotionally unstable and commit an act of violence in their personal life (crime) or in-game (foul), that is a problem. Not just losing them to penalty, injury, prison, or death but the damage to the teams brand from the public relations fallout.
"Hard Impacts create Traumatic Brain Injuries"
Fucking wanker. God forbid someone get mental healthcare so they can, you know, calmly analyze their plays and keep their head in the game.
Damn, I wonder why there's still such a negative stigma around mental health among men
I think a lot of it is how compassion and empathy are considered weakness while they're two of the hardest damn things to do for people you don't know or care about.
I would bet money this dude blames mens mental health crisis on feminists.
yeah and modern athletes are on a different plane of existence from everyone in that era, they'd straight up kill your old faves, what's your point
That’s what I really love about the fetishizing of antiquity and medieval masculinity, the guys they’re jerking themselves off over were on average a good half foot shorter than the average modern man.
An adult Spartans was about the size of like a 14 year old today
It's so stupid though. Look at the players today compared to the old days. They are bigger, faster, and more skilled. The games are MUCH harder and the small mistakes that can turn a game from a victory to a loss as so small, it's crazy. So OF COURSE teams are going to do absolutely everything to give their players an edge, which god forbid would include keeping them from panicking and fucking up a play by having a mental coach on staff
Cigarettes are better for performance than checking if your QB is on top of his game and can actually throw ball good under pressure.
If anything this just shows the advancement of how competitive it is since you can't just smoke now, and before you would only sub a QB if he's already fucking up instead of checking to do it before he fucks up

I mean, they are technically a stimulant. Idk if I'd trade the best coach in college football for a fatty at halftime, but there's definitely some kind of impact on your performance.

A big part of the coaching game is distinguishing between when your game plan failed and when your players did. Talking to the QB afterwards and figuring out what went wrong is kinda vital to that process.
Of course, you could always just jam a needle full of adrenaline into the guy's chest and send him back out there. Some people just coach different.

Green Bay StimPackers
Good times: post ww2 american prosperity
Weak men: dude that self medicated his stress with cigarettes
Bad times: the last 20 years
Strong men: dude who puts his ego aside to ask others for help to achieve his goals
Nobody going to mention the beer? The NFL would be way more entertaining if we let the players get drunk in between halves.
don't just allow them to get drunk, encourage it by giving their team 1 point for every beer chugged by key players like the quarterback
brilliant. Kickers would finally have a point, they could be the designated drunk.
It would also be hilarious to have Brady unseated as the GOAT by whichever team realizes Wisconsin is now a powerhouse QB recruitment pool.
Their pay skyrockets as it is now the most lethal job in the nation
Kickers would transform from skinny dudes to having big ass beer guts
Literally tugging my very small penis to pictures of the actor from the bomb movie in black and white smoking a cig and telling me how worthless I am because I cook my chicken in the oven and don't hit my kids.
Real strong men get untreated head injuries and murder their families then commit suicide. Not this pussy “wahwah I’m hearing voices and need help” snowflake bullshit. What has this country gone to?
REAL strong men are incandescent balls of gas millions of miles across and... hang on, that's stars. shit. i thought that was men.
So where do bloggers/podcasters fit into the strong man weak man cycle, relative to top performing athletes?
u see Draymond's recent comment about his responsibility as a podcaster?
All sports should have a Paunch League where everyone playing has to be kind of unhealthy. I wanna see a player eating a hotdogs on the field. I wanna see a goalie grab a beer while his team is on offense. I wanna see someone dunk a basketball while smoking a Mr. Spacley sized cigar
I played beer league rugby, there was pretty frequently beer on the field or at least the sidelines. And the losing team had to pay for the keg.
That's all well and good, but I'm talking at a professional level. Televised, competitive league play, doctors ensuring a certain blood alcohol, cholesterol and lung damage level for all competitors. They should do back to back games where teams need to play another game hungover early the next morning. Really put these guys through it.
Isn't that just any professional sport before 1990? I remember watching a youtube doc about sports nutrition, and a former player from the 80's was telling that his "warm up" meal before a football game was 2 hotdogs and a cherry coke.
Remember Dave Portnoy saying he's a socialist on the Adam Friedland show?
