All in all this is still like a 600 dollar endeavor... if this doesn’t work for you, go to a pawn shop and pick out a cheap handgun.
I've fired guns, but never bought one, so I'm far from an authority. This is the pistol I'm looking at buying: 9mm, can hold a 17-round magazine, the reviews look good, and is in the $300 range.
If this is garbage, someone please tell me, but it looks like a good option if folks are trying to get armed without breaking the bank.
I've heard some bad things about Tarus. There are videos of people shooting then just by shaking. Your best bet would be to go with a used American brand
Definitely not a good look for the manufacturer. It looks like that's a different model, though, and that it's been recalled:
In 2016, the PT24/7 was included in the settlement of a lawsuit which alleged that it, and certain other Taurus handguns, could fire accidentally if dropped and that Taurus covered up the safety defects. Without admitting guilt, the company paid $39 million, extended the warranties, and recalled the pistols for repair.
I wonder how common it is to test whether that type of accidental firing can happen or how quickly it would be discovered after the gun hits the market.

They're alright. The front won't fall off on them. If you're buying the newer G series or some of their revolvers, you're okay.

You can get a taurus and have a great gun.
You can get the same model and have a paperweight.
Their customer service doesn't know the difference.
