Google podcasts is being cramed into the horrible Youtube Music app. Anyone know of a decent android podcast app with similar functions to Google Podcasts? One that doesn't sign you up to follow bigots?
Holy the news reccs are worse still
Edit -
Thank you everyone for the recommendations 😊
with similar functions to Google Podcasts?
Like what? Listening to podcasts? I use AntennaPod. Solid app. It is free software, available in F-Droid.
do you sync your data between the two? I've been meaning to run the gpodder.net server at home because it seems like they closed open registrations to the public site
nah. I barely even use it. I mostly listen to podcasts on my phone
I switched over to Pocketcast. It's pretty minimalist in terms of features, which is what I wanted. Just play my shit and don't feed me ads, thanks. I like it.
I have no idea if it's similar to google podcasts cuz I never used that, but antennapod is pretty good and i haven't needed to use another app since I installed it. It doesn't automatically sign you up to anything, and you can easily import your subscriptions to it.
Just like in protest? Does it not let you unsub? I pretty much only use Podbean for the black wolf feed.
It lets you unsub, but mostly in protest they're funneling users to the fascist pipeline.
I use Pocketcasts and it has been good. You can Auto-queue podcasts and have different speed settings for each.
The recommended podcasts on the search tab aren't hateful either, just normie celebrity interview shows and true crime shit
Imo the most feature-rich podcast app on Android by far is PodcastAddict but its settings menu is complete garbage.
If you want a podcast app that just works from install, forget about it.
If you want a podcast app that allows you to tweak it until you've set it up to work exactly the way you want it to, expect to spend an hour frustratedly screwing around with the settings and trying to figure out what the hell each setting description is trying to tell you but, once you've reached the point where it's doing what you want it to you'll be content with it.
what ways are there to optimise listening to a podcast?
surely it's just click play
I'm on Podcast Addict. I used to have Podbean. I forget why I ultimately switched. But I was definitely put off by the random live radio shows it would serve up frontpage and definitely by these suggestions as well. It made me wonder if their was any agenda, or if these shows are really so popular that it was just an honest reflection of what people listen to for them to be always in my face. Ended up listening to a lot of Mark Levin. Just kidding! Also, I remember having to remember to turn off automatic downloads anytime I followed a new show or else end up having to delete tons of accidentally download eps

I've got podbean now and am shopping around. The suggestions are intrusive and innacurate, for one, but I also found it doesn't support offline listening. If I'm out of data, out of signal or on aeroplane mode I can't listen.
I use Podverse, which I downloaded from FDroid. It is also on the playstore. It does its job very good, is open source, and has no ads.
Aww look'it that cute little fella in the top left corner, lookin like they just ate some chocolate cake like an infant.
What is it with the white T-shirt and dress jacket? Why does anyone wear it, it makes you look like shit.
ngl I kinda like it, but that's specifically because it's disrespectful to the suit. men's formal fashion sucks ass
Look, not disagreeing, but if you want be disrespectful to the suit, go shirtless and cut off the sleeves, this is just lazy tech bro shit.
this is just lazy tech bro shit.
Looks like the answer was inside you all along
AntennaPod is alright
I wonder how much DailyWire pays to get this kind of promotion, trustfund fucks
I think they employ bot subscribers to boost their rank on service like Apple Podcasts (which many podcast apps use as a source for recommendations).
