Fun fact: Many (most?) modern pick-ups are too big fit in even America's grotesque McMansion-sized garages now.
They are typically bought as masculinity compensators so the owners enjoyed the fact that their vehicle was too brawny and rugged to be domesticated inside a garage. But then the prices kept going up so they're maintained and pampered like a luxury car which sort of defeats the whole purpose of a truck.

This is the default take on this site and I think you’re mostly right definitely most likely in this particular case, but this may be a highly regional thing.
In Texas I’ve known plenty of fellow working class people that drive trucks around here especially Mexican and other Hispanic immigrants who work landscaping, construction, and other highly labor intensive jobs.
We definitely do have more than our fair share of contractors and rich chuds driving around giant 80k+ tank sized trucks that have never been off the highway tho
Same in Socal. My brother works in construction. His company promoted him and gave him his own work truck. Then he went out and bought his own truck which all I've seen in the bed is my bicycle.
I used to have a truck in my early 20s. I mainly used it to carry equipment for shows and every now and then to move furniture for myself or friends. One of those things where it came in handy every now and the. But that’s it lol.
