Reddit only pretends to care about sports when it fits the narrative of the State Department. Sochi '14, Rio '16, Russia WC '22, Beijing '22, Qatar WC '22. Reddit is gonna be unbearable in February and December.

I usually don't watch the olympics, but this year I feel like watching as much as possible out of spite

Naw, they used lasers on cops/feds for 200+ days in Portland. No one got shot, but I think some protesters were charged for "permanently blinding" some fed.

don't know about the us, but you can get in fairly massive legal trouble for doing this in germany, too. especially if you point the thing at a police helicopter.

tbf you 100% shouldn't do that unless it's a full on insurrection or you REALLY need to protect someone for some reason.

absolutely. doing an adventurist prank on a police chopper is not worth spending several years in a federal prison.

oooh but imagine a bunch of protesters taking down a police chopper tho... :sicko-yes:

It's insane how the average American completely disassociates all police brutality merely as the product of a few bad apple, while assuming all bad countries are policed by Combine Overwatch purely on vibes alone.

Like in Youtube there's a series of annoyingly popular "American cops vs Russian cops" videos that basically plays into the "d-word west, manly Russia" narrative. American cops are depicted with those PR videos of them acting with kids and going to pride parade while the Russians are all punching people and shit, with the implicit message that American cops are too nice unlike the hardcore Russians.

Most propagandized people on the planet.

Which is sorta funny, Russian police tend to be somewhat alright on the day-to-day but are fucking ruthless when they do go off the handle. American police on the other hand tend to default to flying off the handle period

Green lasers were pretty popular in 2020, the attorney general lied to Congress saying they permanently blinded agents
