With varying degrees of relief and caution, many Americans are starting to return to their pre-pandemic lifestyles.

How many times are they gonna do this herd immunity nonsense? <insert definition of insanity quote>

As mask mandates ease, workers return to offices and flights fill up, experts are trying to understand whether this return to normal can last, or if another setback is looming.

:disgost: Fuck it I'm saying it, I HOPE there is another "setback" (specially for offices).

It is well known that viruses cannot harm you if you simply pretend that they do not exist

Enough for what lol? The major metro areas are set to drop vaxx and mask mandates within the next few weeks. Not that any of that shit was being enforced in any uniform manner to begin with. Good to know that the discourse is as pointless as the policies

I mean, this kind of shit should be held in contempt. It's well established that the virus is going to mutate and immunity to the virus is temporary.

The lockdown for this virus was literally the only thing I've ever seen humanity do to remedy global warming. I think we all remember the spat of stories around the time describing how we could practically hear mother nature singing with relief and joy at the pillow we're smothering her with relaxing for a moment. I really really want to go back to that.

Yeah, that would be great. But as we can see, it's going to take a much greater crisis than COVID for us to do that. We simply will not put down our big vroom-vroom toys or pay people to stay the fuck home willingly.

You can get BA2 less than six weeks after having had BA1, but there are specifics on how reinfection is counted and I know people who have had it within weeks

So if a new variant pops up before the midterms that has immune evasion and a 15% mortality rate like the original SARS, do you think our government will do anything to stop it?

    These fucking clowns

“We have been exposed to this virus and we know how to deal with it.”

The coronavirus — the current variant or future ones that are sure to pop up — remains a dangerous germ. It is still infecting more than 130,000 Americans and killing more than 2,000 every day. Tens of millions of people remain vulnerable.

These paragraphs are right after each other. How tf does an expert conclude we know how to deal with it? Does he mean we know how to do deal with death?

Also like what’s the death rate like 1.2%? What’s the math against the 80 million vulnerable people?
