The data showed that Democrats could mostly regain the ground lost to Republicans if they offered a strong rebuttal to the political hits. When faced with a “defund the police” attack, for instance, the presenters encouraged Democrats to reiterate their support for police. And on immigration, they said Democrats should deny support for “open borders or amnesty,” and talk about their efforts to keep the border safe.

For my entire lifetime, whenever Democrats get even a little pushback, there are campaign and lanyard dorks who swoop in and suggest that the Democratic party just act like Republicans.

It has never worked to stop them from losing in midterms, and yet it keeps getting used as a strategy.

The Democrats could institute the death penalty for all crimes and mow down people in the thousands at the border with machine guns on video and the Republicans would still claim they're soft on crime and the border.

      For my entire lifetime

Same here. I remember the Dems attempting (in vain) to out-natsec the Reps in the 2004 campaign in response to the Afghanistan & Iraq wars beginning.

Yep. Wesley Clark in the presidential primary and a bunch of veterans running for Congress, saying they'd manage the war better

really about taking control of natural resources in the middle east.

This was the Carter Doctrine. He announced the US would go to war for oil in the Middle East. Of course he's a Christian too so yeah.

Electorate is not aware of it though. Despite what comrades here think, fascism is mass politics accepted by capital, but not driven by capital, so it’s very sketchy situation

It would be cool if they were as adamant about funding and developing critical social programs as they were about the police, but alas

The cops and the military are the only consistently funded state apparatuses in the US. When's the last time low-income health clinics or something were given tens of billions of dollars more than they asked for?
