There will be no reason to play any game very soon that does not reward you with crypto/staking/NFT rewards. I can't even play anything standard now that I have blockchained. Steam will eventually go the way of Blackberry if it doesn't adapt.

His profile mostly consists of trying to win NFT giveaways like those old "win a laptop just for completing a survey!" scams.

I just got finished pissing off all my friends ranting about how gaming has been reduced to gambling and skinner boxes that reward pathological behavior with intangible treats that have no intrinsic value and how the idea of "playing for the sake of play" is regarded as nonsensical by many gamers.

BOY OH BOY I SURE DO LOVE TO WASTE MY LIFE GRINDING SHIT, SUB-FACEBOOK LEVEL SCAM """"""GAMES""""" TO GET .15 CENTS AN HOUR

The funniest part is that apparently often you don't even get the full value of the crypto shit you grind, you basically rent your account from a landlord and they keep the majority of your earnings

I need to rent everything in every video game. I need to simultaneously be a landlord for a virtual sword which I hope will earn me enough dog money to pay for my boot rent and license to hunt goblins on my landlord's property.

When I am not driving my leased car to my job where I am paid a fraction of the value I generate, I want to be paid to play a game on a rented PC in a rented apartment. I am not owned.

This is incredibly sad. Pro sports players talk about how after they start making money playing the game, they lose interest in playing pickup games and in watching games recreationally - the fact that they got paid to do what they love makes them stop loving it. I experienced a similar breakdown in enjoyment with respects to live theatre - loved it in high school/college, was absolutely miserable doing it as a job.

This person is probably just saying this and hasn't actually experienced a profound loss of love for a hobby, but on the off chance that it's real or it threatens gaming as a whole I feel extremely sorry for anyone it happens to.

On xbox, there is a reward program that gives you 5 cents a day for getting an achievement/trophy, and its already making gaming a daily grind for pennies instead of having fun for me.

This makes me angry in the same way people are now "content creators"
