If they seriously tried to make WW2 a mass-media franchise thing, I'd fully expect some kind of awful clean wehrmacht series before they made anything about the Soviets.

100%. A story about one of the Swing Kids who got drafted into the SS but feels guilty about all the things he sees and does and continues to do, and sometimes helps a cute Jewish girl hide/escape...until she's found and SA'd by the Soviets for some reason

The plot is that you are the ultimate American patriot on a secret mission deep in Soviet territory as you attempt to take out the true mastermind of the Holocaust, Joseph Stalin.

In an introductory cutscene we see the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Molotov slides a folder over to Ribbentrop and inside it there is document titled "Holocaust Plan-The Final Solution by Karl Marx and edited by Joseph Stalin" Ribbentrop cries as he reads the contents of the folder and states that Hitler could never go through with such a demonic plan. Molotov holds a gun to his head and lets him know he can send the document directly to Hitler with his blood splattered all over it if he'd like. Ribbentrop walks away in shambles.

Really got to pirate that some day, same with the CIA one just for the "bad" ending (more like based ending) where you break free from your MK ULTRA brainwashing and kill your handlers before nukingamerikkka

There's finally going to be a movie about the Battle of Castle Itter but they'll rewrite the SS to be Soviets.

Wasn't that basically the History Channel, or was that the Military History Channel? That basically did exactly that for the 2010s?

Not quite. Band of Brothers was more of a narrative focused show based on a book.

The History Channel stuff started as documentaries, but quickly went off the rails and started focusing on Wunderwaffe shit and nazi mysticism - all still in the "documentary" genre.

Classic “very interesting worldbuilding but the writing was a mess and all over the place” type of show

I love the lore of Band Of Brothers, they wrote this cool war called "War World 2" that happened in an alternate earth during the 40's.

They don’t even have 1 real plane in the show take off. Maybe a few scenes of guys standing outside a real plane and then maybe 1 real interior just recycled for every different crew. The rest is CGI. Why make a video game without letting me play it?

OK but they need to keep some historic accuracy unlike that Shadow in the Cloud crap like a woman could fly a plane get the fuck out

This is like when the sequel to that Tattooist of Auschwitz book came out. It felt like they were making a holocaust literary universe.

I’m surprised WWII media is becoming popular again in Hollywood . Most people from that generation are dead and their children will be too pretty soon. The distance between now and 1945 is vaster than that between the end of the Clinton administration and the end of WWI.

its evergreen and cheaper than ever, literally every demographic from neocons to reds, less literal neo-nazis can watch a shoot nazis thing. it also reinforces the UK/US as good guys despite that being the literal last halfway decent thing these countries did

I feel like most hollywood liberals understand that the US has been the "bad guys" in every war since, so if you want to make some uncomplicated marvel-tier movies, WWII is the only real option.

      79>83?

At any rate, hollywood will make WW2 films as long as the public buys war films. WW2 is literally the only war where the US can say they were on the right side without presenting an upside down world.
