I'm gonna come out and say I don't mind sponsors half as much as actual ads. I'm mostly happy to just skip forward til they're gone. But I respect the fork

The Vanced one let you choose autoskip or a skip button, also highlighted the scrub bar with different colors to show sponsored segments, intros, self sponsorship, and outtros

I'll keep newpipe in mind but apparently you can't log in to youtube on it? So does that mean I have to see the default feed which is just crammed with obnoxious thumbnails and stuff?

Tbh I'm rooted and have adaway anyways so I think I'm usually pretty good to go on yt anyways. But this definitely stings.

Ah cool that's fine with me since I only have a few subs I care about. Thanks for clearing that up

You can import your subscriptions. It just won't be synced with your YouTube account which sucks. It's still better than using the official app.

I just view my subscriptions in my browser at https://m.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions and open the links in Newpipe.

No login, no recommendations and no comments, right?

How am I supposed to find slop or get angry at strangers and their dumb opinions

Youtube is honestly unusable without recommendations, without logging in looking at the main page is like staring into the Ark of the Covenant

If there's a few channels you already like to watch and get suggested videolinks elsewhere you don't really need them. At least that's how I've used youtube for years now.

You can see the comments and the default recommendations the video has, you just can't post your own bad takes or get personalized recommendations.

I recommend getting newpipe with sponsorblock, an unofficial fork with sponsorblock.
