    so what's this guy's deal? is he like a military strategist? i think i heard he trained some troops or cops or something? he talks like he's an authority on the subject but the conclusions he comes to feels like he just says whatever he FEELS sounds right. so is he an expert in any sense or just some dude talking about what he thinks he feels makes the most sense?

      Vague illusions to being some kind of "private military" contractor at some point in his past. He does some kinda journalism stuff so maybe he's got enough contacts that he chats with on the regular about these kinds of things.

          I find myself sitting at about 50/50 between thinking of him as any other "lefty with an unfortunately (para)military history" and "something else".
