Huh, maybe it wasn't a publicity stunt.

Libs freaking out about how much seeing a slap traumatized them was genuinely wild, it's too bad Smith has to suffer for it.

Or, you know, "suffer". He's gonna be fine.

Resorting to violence to address problems is the cardinal sin in liberal society. It cannot be allowed to happen unpunished.

Well what if Mr. Smith decides to try to attend anyway? What will the fine people at the Oscars do then? Surely nothing violent like calling armed men to drag him away.

that's ok though because its not violence when they do it, it's "the preventative application of force" or some shit

        That's not violence, silly!

I did love the people whose take was "violence is never the answer! They should have called the cops on him immediately!"

Banned for making the Oscars actually entertaining.

The academy: We can defend pedophilia, sexual abuse, domestic abuse and rape, but we draw the line at one of us being publicly slapped.

Yeah, getting a clap in the face is the bare minimum you should expect for being a prick

It was such a minor slap too, all the people hand wringing calling it "assault and battery" or "an attack" are just being ridiculous. Like I still think it was an absurd thing of him to do but people are acting like he broke his nose or something.

Actually sitting around for the entire ceremony seems so boring that this will only encourage further slapping.

I think they're probably a little concerned that their brand is switching from "most revered awards in the movie industry" to "circus show" regardless of the numbers.
