Chapo was the only good thing on reddit. This is great now i can browse chapo without afterwards spending an eternity looking at stupid posts from uninteresting subreddits.
For real. I use discord a ton for other stuff, but that medium is terrible for stuff like this.
I dunno the People's Podcast was pretty sweet last time I was in it. Unless something changed in the last week or so, I think the Discord still has a role to play.
Especially considering that there's like 5x the amount of people still in the Discord, gotta keep that ark afloat until everyone gets in at the very least
What’re the odds we make it past the mass evictions in August without a massive uprising? In most countries it’s be enough for people to take to the streets and start burning shit down but the US is so fucking housebroken I feel like we might just sit there and take it
You guys just had nationwide protests against police, I have faith in you
Feels like outside of a few cities like Portland, the momentum has fizzled in spite of the fact that police brutality has gotten worse with almost no action taken by the government to curb it
Off topic here. I don't know what this said, but I appreciate the QOL here where you can see if the poster deleted it or the mod
Given how inefficient the courts are I doubt ~50% of all renters are going to become homeless all at once. If I had to guess this would appear as a slow-rolling crisis. We definitely have our work cut out for us. With agitation, proper politicization, and organizing this feels like it could be a paradigm shift.
I wouldn't be surprised if landlords just called the cops to evict people even without a court order.

You see, in the Chapo that I'm familiar with, it's less about the users of the thread, but more about connecting with the thread of the users.

You bought it for the same reason as me: to weigh packs of Pokemon cards to get rare cards
The first time I saw a fight in real life was because of someone doing this.
The guy running the card shop had no problem with someone whipping his scales out, but one of the other customers started ree-ing about integrity and then whapped the scale-guy over the head with a backpack.
Cops got called, they both get kicked out and are still fighting (rolling on the floor breathing heavily and trying to scratch eachother's eyes) on the street outside... Meanwhile 13 year old me is just awkwardly standing in the shop because I was only there to buy Spiderman comics and now everyone is a little preoccupied.
I do it at fucking dollar tree because they have the easiest cards to weigh. I always get looks from workers but whatevs
Ill give you the quick write up. You get one of them scales you use to weigh drugs. You take it to dollar tree because normal packs balance for the weight difference now (there are guides online that will say which sets of packs are weigh-able tho and sometimes PTCG puts some out that are weigh-able by accident. ) You measure for every pack they have which is usually like 50 just stuffed in a box somewhere. You take the heaviest cards and you have like a 75% chance of getting a holo at the very least. The reason it works is cuz obv holos weigh more than just a normal ass card but in standard booster packs they put in that Pokemon Trading Card Game Online card in there which has two different weights. If theres a rare they put in a green one and if its a shit pack they put in the white one. This roughly balances the cards but like I said sometimes they mess up and packs can still be weighed.
I lost my scale so I haven't done this recently but it worked extremely well the few times I did do it. I was pulling full art holos left and right.
There are youtubers that buy 100 packs of new sets and try to weigh them any time a new set comes out so if you can't find a guide you can just watch a vid :)
My favorite little thing about the Lemmy is the Moscow time tracker at the bottom, always makes me chuckle when I see it.
Man Michael Brooks death still got me all fucked up. He seemed like one of the most genuinely positive people in breadtube and his knowledge on less talked about countries was fucking crazy. I've been a leftist for a few years and there were times I'd tune in to the show and have absolutely zero idea what he was talking about. I really don't know who can fill the void. :( Rest in power
You cannot just redo a launch megathread, this is revisionism
The material conditions have changed, reusing the joke would be counter-revolutionairy.
I went back to Reddit home page for 5 seconds and I see an r/UnpopularOpinion post about sex work with a dozen Reddit gold. What an absolute shithole
Got banned from /r/breadtube for being a tankie lol
