I'm very, very pro trans gun ownership, but I think a gun isn't really the best way to be safe during early transition. For one this, a trans person actually using a gun in self defense is going to face a lot of pushback. The cops, courts, and media will not be on your side. Bystanders can't be relied upon to be accurate witnesses. But there are good ways to keep yourself safe. You can meet other trans people who can look out for you, and go with you during those terrifyingly early transition excursions we all deal with. You can avoid being publicly trans until you've been on hormones for a while and have practiced your presentation. You can move to a safer area. If you do those things, you'll be in a much better place than you would be right now with a gun.
